Would Chase Headley be a upgrade for the Yankees? He is a homegrown product of the Padres. The home ballpark for the Padres has been rough on the switch hitting third baseman. Rumors of him being traded to the Yankees come out often and have gotten more realistic over the last few months due to the Yankees holes in the infield. Known to play great defense at third ( Won the 2012 Gold Glove ). Here's my idea of what he brings to the Yankees.
Defense Known to be a strong defender at third base, Chase won the 2012 Gold Glove. In 2013 Chase had a .968 FP. He made 11 errors ( 5 fielding 6 throwing ). His career high for errors in a season is 13 ( 9 fielding 4 throwing ). In DRS he saved 5 runs in 2013. Overall I think he would be a huge upgrade at 3rd over Kelly Johnson and even Solarte.
Offense The Padres home park isn't very friendly to switch hitters ( Or any hitters ). His power numbers have been pushed down due to his home park. His 2013 ISO was .150. He slugged .400. One important stat is his 11.2% BB. In 2013 he had a 113 wRC+. If he were to come to the Yankees you expect a huge increase in his offensive numbers.
Would you want Chase Headley on the Yankees?
