Murphy or McCann: Is John Ryan Murphy ready to take the reigns?

Sorry John Ryan, but you need a nickname; how about "Jophy? " You don't want to be confused with JAFO from Blue Thunder, " Just Another F'n Observer". I'm sure that John Ryan's early performance has been quite the surprise to all of us, but is he ready to take on a number one catching position?

If the Yankees need to trade for a pitcher and do not have the prospects to trade for an ace, would Brian McCann be enough, too much or just enough to fetch a number one and a backup catcher?

I do like Brian McCann, but how many teams out there would? He is a 7-time all star with pop in his bat and handles the pitching staff well. He hasn't hit for average and has rarely been clutch so far this season, but I would expect him to improve back towards his career norms as the season progress so this is not about his value to the Yankees, it's what is his value for the Yankees. Murphy, on the other hand, would not capture as much in return in the trade market so his greater value could be to keep him as a Yankee and sacrifice McCann for the mound.
