As great a ballplayer as he's been, Derek Jeter might be the absolute worst interview in the history of sports. Can anyone here honestly remember him saying anything, one single thing, that was remotely thought-provoking or interesting?
A reporter could talk to a chair or a mitt and get a spicier response.
And while I get why he thinks he had to do that for 20 years, and why he continues to do it today, it's been rough. There's a place where "classy" becomes "robotic."
Just once I'd like to hear him quote a Trent Reznor lyric or belch or howl like a wounded forest creature. Or tell a joke. Or say something funny that wasn't meant to be a joke.
