Your 2013 New York Yankees

What an off season.

Brian Cashman and the Yankees getting rejected from mid level talent all winter long. Dumpster diving to secure any proven major league talent. No spectacular free agent signings. Injuries off the chart from Curtis Granderson, Boone Logan, Clay Rapada, Alex Rodriguez to Mark Teixeira. Steroids filled the sport pages, with supposed big name users. And of course a few Yankees are mentioned on those steroid lists.

Within 16 days the 2013 season will begin. Who will make the team?

POSITION PLAYERS:

Outfielders...

1. Ichiro Suzuki--LF/RF/CF-- Most likely the best all around spring training on this team.

2. Brett Gardner--LF/CF-- Definitely shown why Yankees missed him so much last year.

3. Brennan Boesch--LF/RF-- Gave him a major league contract. Will be a left-handed hitting platoon in right or left field.

4. Ben Francisco--LF/RF-- Great spring proven he can hit. Should be the right handed part of that platoon in right or left field.

DH...

5. Travis Hafner--DH-- Will be the left handed DH. Top of the line slugger, if he stays healthy.

6. Ronnier Mustelier--DH/3B/LF/RF-- Fantastic storyline. Proven he can hit and play different positions. His ability to play all of the corners gets the job done for this 28 year old rookie.

Infielders...

7. Derek Jeter--SS/DH-- The captain what else needs said.

8. Robinson Cano--2B-- Tearing up the World Baseball Championship.

9. Kevin Youkilis--3B/1B/DH-- Showing a new swing and his versatility in the field.

10. Eduardo Nunez--SS/2B-- New shorten throwing motion has cut down on errors. Not hitting much but has a proven track record in the big leagues.

11. Juan Rivera--1B/RF/LF/DH-- Proven he can still hit. His ability to play first base is the deal sealer.

Catchers...

12. Francisco Cervelli--C-- Moved to the top of the catchers list with his excellant spring training defense.

13. Chris Stewart --C-- Very good overall spring and may end up as the #1 catcher as the season progresses.

Honorable mention====

Thomas Neal-- LF/RF/DH-- Good productive spring but Yankees will go with proven talent. Sure hope he does not exercise his option to leave the Yankees.

Melky Mesa-- LF/CF/RF-- Good defensive spring. Simply put he strikes out too much and his spring on base percentage is to low.

Slade Heathcott--CF--Best defensive showing of the spring. Has not had many opportunities at the plate because of minor injuries. Still hitting reasonable well for short sample size. Lack of big league experience dooming his stay.

Dan Johnson--1B/3B-- Just cannot hit so far. Error city at 3B.

Matt Diaz--LF/RF-- Just not hitting. Another one you hope does not opt out of his contract. Released

Jayson Nix--3B/SS/2B-- With the Yankees's loosing so much hitting hard to find a place for him on this rooster. The biggest factor is that he is already assigned to triple A.

PITCHERS:

Starting pitchers...

1. CC Sabathia--LHSP-- Will be the ace and anchor of this staff.

2. Hiroki Kuroda--RHSP-- Best era on this team last year and not showing any signs of slowing down.

3. Andy Pettitte--LHSP-- The wiley veteran left hander can still pitch. Question is can he stay healthy.

4. Phil Hughes--RHSP-- His spot to loose. Back issues seem to be behind him.

5. Ivan Nova--RHSP-- Strong spring showing. New delivery motion has settled him down. With his past proven history will be a starter in this rotation.

Relief pitchers...

6. Mariano Rivera--RHRP/Closer-- Still sawing off bats.

7. David Robertson--RHRP/8th inning-- Returning to form.

8. Joba Chamberlain--RHRP/7th inning-- Looks fully healed from last years injuries.

9. David Aardsma--RHRP/6th inning-- Recovering nicely from Tommy John surgery.

10. Boone Logan--LHRP-- Lefty specialist out of the pen.

11. Shawn Kelley--RHRP-- Has show the ability to be a valuable asset in the pen this spring.

12. David Phelps--RHRP/LR/SP-- Would be fifth starter on most teams. Should be first to hit rotation if the need arises.

Honorable Mention====

Vidal Nuno--LHRP-- May still make the roster as the other loogy. Injuries will play a huge roll in him cracking the bull pen.

Clay Rapada--LHRP-- His injury has opened a spot on the rooster.

Jose A. Ramirez--RHSP-- One bad outing this spring. Opened a lot of eyes this spring.

Brett Marshall--RHSP---Has a great sinker and seems to have developed that put away pitch.

Adam Warren--RHSP--Consistent. Maybe first to be promoted.

Mark Montgomery--RHRP-- Stuff looks incredible but nerves got the best of him this spring.

LET THE SEASON BEGIN.
