Around the Internet:

Injury Updates - LoHud | Chad Jennings

Both Michael Pineda and Cesar Cabral threw 35 pitches from a mound and each threw sliders. Both seem confident in their road to recovery, especially Pineda, but Cabral will be ready to get into a game sooner, since he is a reliever. Mark Teixeira is back with the team and he will stay in Tampa to heal and then rehab once the team goes north for the beginning of the season.

Prospect Earns Praise from Mariano - New York Post | George A. King III

The Yankees have gone through a long list of 'next big thing' pitching prospects. Ryan Bradley, Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes, Andrew Brackman, Dellin Betances, Manny Banuelos, and Michael Pineda have all had their fair share of failures. Mariano Rivera believes that Jose Ramirez is the real deal and will be something special for the organization. His 96 MPH fastball mixed with his highly rates change up give him impressive stuff. Mo was most impressed by his composure and ability to effectively use his pitches in the right sequence. Watching him pitch this spring was a real treat.

Coaxing Chipper Jones Out of Retirement - New York Post | Joel Sherman

Brian Cashman essentially used twitter to do his job for him. When he made it known to the media that he wanted to Chipper Jones on the Yankees, he also urged the reporters to tweet out his statements in order to coax him out of retirement. Soon after Jack Curry had a response from Jones' agent, who provided a statement for his client. The Chipper Jones to New York idea was over as suddenly as it began. Cashman believed he was being creative, rather than desperate in trying to fill the injuries on the Yankees.

Depth Chart Discussion - Rotographs | Mike Axisa

Over at Rotographs they break down the Yankees bullpen and evaluate their fantasy value and their hierarchy in saves opportunity. Interestingly Boone Logan is higher than once-closer David Aardsma.

Sued By Your Cousin - MLB Nation | Matt Rogina

Alex Rodriguez is being sued by his cousin, Yuri Sucart, for $5M for damages done relating to the steroid scandal. When it was discovered that A-Rod had done steroids, he pushed much of the blame on Sucart, stating that his cousin pushed him into it. The two are currently trying to reach a settlement.

Eisenhower Baseball - Tim Hagerty

President Dwight Eisenhower might have assumed a fake name in order to play professional baseball before he went to college. He used the money he got from playing baseball to pay for his college education. Of course, none of this is definite because Eisenhower already had to swear he never played sports for money when he entered college, so it would have been a major scandal if he admitted he lied.

Quick Hits:

Captain's Back: Derek Jeter will be starting at short stop for the first time today

Retirees: Just to make everyone feel better, the Yankees have no interest in Aubrey Huff. At least there's that.

Questions of the Day:

  • Do you prefer day games or night games?
  • Have you ever caught a foul ball? Whose was it?
  • Are you a lefty or a righty?
  • How is your vision? (glasses? contacts? perfect?)
