John Sterling to announce the Kitten Bowl on the Hallmark Channel

David Richard-US PRESSWIRE

You likely know what the Super Bowl is and there's a small chance you know what the Puppy Bowl is, but now you will also get the option of a Kitten Bowl. This year the Hallmark Channel will be starting their own animal competition to be in direct competition with Animal Planet. The event will be hosted by Howard Stern's wife, Beth, in association with North Shore Animal League America. All participating kittens are getting homes after the game!

The competition will consist of two preliminary playoffs and a championship match. Along with basic obstacle courses of hurdles, tunnels, hoops, jumps, weave poles, lasers, lures and toys on strings, "Kitten Bowl" will feature clever locker room strategies, player profiles and "interviews," and camera work and audio recordings from the athletes as they play the game!

To make this Yankee-related, Hallmark is bringing in Yankees play-by-play radio announcer John Sterling to announce the event. With the Yankees likely moving from CBS to WFAN, could this be Sterling's future?

Deadspin says exactly what we're all now thinking:

You know what that means! Catchphrases! (Catphrases.) "Calico-lossal!" "Not too shabby, Mr. Tabby!" "What a sortie from the Tortie!" And so on.

Got a potential kitten Sterling-ism? Take it to the comments.
