Yankees News And Notes - I'mGivingYouACaseOfTheMondays

Russell shows muscle. Muscle shows Mets. Mets trade for Russell. A perfect formula.

Mood Music - Five O'Clock World by The Vogues

The Yankees swept the Mets this weekend in glorious and apparently typical Yankees/Mets fashion for this year. Yankees hit dingers. Mets bullpen and errors cost them wins. NOW the Yankees have bragging rights in NYC until they somehow have to fight for them again at Citi Field on June 22nd. It's a good thing Yankees fans do not brag before interleague starts or during the offseason. Mets fans could really come to hate Yankees fans for their constant bragging, if that were the case. Pettitte was not in his usual vintage savior form yesterday but he managed to hold the Mets to just three runs. He also barehanded a come-backer. Do not, I repeat, do not do this again Pettitte. This goes for all Yankees pitchers as well. I'm watching you. Always. GLOVES!

Interleague chugs along as the Yankees visit Atlanta to start a three game series against the Braves. CBSSports.com has a preview of this series. Year long honoree Chipper Jones is off the disabled list. Hopefully the Yankees honor him with some Golden K's. Or at least Golden Crisp. "Can't get enough of that Golden Criiiiiiiissp!" Damn TV programming. Side note; the Yankees play the Braves again the following week back in the Bronx. Why do the Yankees play the Braves six times a year? I really would like to know. If it's to honor Chipper in the Bronx, someone needs to be fired.

The Yankees are apparently all in for Jorge Soler like he was a Texas Hold-Em match. Quite a few teams have put their cards on the table for the tweet-popular yet somewhat unknown young Cuban outfielder. There's been no tweet on who has won the Soler pot yet. We'll let you know when there is. Well, I won't. I don't trust Soler power since the near fatal Monorail calamity in Springfield.

I'll be completely honest. I did not write a thing until I fully listened to the Monorail song in the link above. David Robertson continued his road to recovery yesterday. Houdini did not need to "Houdini" anything when he appeared in the seventh inning for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barres. D-Rob gave up no hits and no walks, while striking out one batter. He only needed eleven pitches to get out of the inning. Eight of them were strikes. With Soriano's blown and boo'd save opportunity yesterday, closer war is approaching. We'll see what happens. I hope it's civil between SOS and DOH.

The Red Sox were swept by the Nationals this weekend. This makes me happy. Bobby Valentine shows more idiocy as he is tossed from yesterday's game one strike before the game's conclusion. This also makes me happy. Salt in my mocking eye joined his manager in complaining about the specific strike call which got him tossed. This definitely makes me happy. It shows real frustration. It's still early to pay attention to the standings. Buuuuuuuuuut we're less than a month away from the All Star Break and the Saux have a legitimate chance to finish fifth in the division when it arrives. This makes me insanely happy. Not because I think it matters for the second half, but more because the Boston media will simply tear into them. I'm sadistic. Or maybe just Soxdistic. If you'll excuse me I have some more classic Simpsons songs to listen to.
