Waiting for the other shoe to drop?
One of the things I have always done is a season forecast. I always did it around the start of spring training. At that time last year I predicted Yanks with 96 wins starting spring training and called a coin toss with the RS. But, I felt I had to revise after spring training.
This year I am going to just wait before projecting. It is a lot of work to do the math I do to project, and I expect a major change in the Yank roster before the season. I expect a trade that will send away pitching and bring back a bat. I expect to hate the deal because we can't trade Garcia, and probably can't trade AJ.
I am prepared to say I do not expect the RS to win the AL east. I will pick the Yanks to win and the RS to finish third.

I’m not expecting another trade. Even if all 7 starters make it through Spring Training without any strains or sprains that could shelve them for a month, I think Hughes and AJ have the limited repertoires and dominant fastballs to take the Bartolo Colon role out of the bullpen.
So the Yankees have a bullpen of Rivera, Soriano, Robertson and Logan (sigh- I wish Girardi would realize he’s better off with all above average arms even if there’s no lefty, rather than bringing a mediocre lefty to the park). Add Hughes and AJ to pitch long outings any time the starter leaves the game with the Yankees down a run, and there’s your 11 man pitching staff.
Especially through the first month of the season while the starters are stretching out their arms, having both AJ and Hughes in the pen is an ok problem to have. And by mid-May, the trade market will start to sort itself out.
No Joba till after the All Star break
If the Yankees are hell bent on carrying 12 (I wouldn’t be), your odds on favorite is Cory Wade, though Betances, Kontos, Mitchell, and Phelps are all on the 40-man.
I haven’t read that the Yankees are dead set on a 12 pitcher staff, but I’m not scouring the web these days. Link?
A 12 man staff means only 13 position players. That’s 8 everyday fielders, plus Andruw Jones, Francisco Cervelli, Eduardo Nunez, Ramiro Pena, plus one more. For those hoping big things for Jorge Vazquez (who is not even on the 40 man) or Brandon Laird, this is his spot.
The Rays will be a pitching/ defense team, and the Sox mostly offense. The Yankees are both.
I think the Yankees will pursue a DH, and that’s it, unless ARod just breaks down. The Bosox are also maxed out on budget, so I don’t expect them to land Oswalt unless he can’t make any deal with anyone else.

How so?
PSA is frankly not as interesting as it was.

It could be
that he is less interested because “I joined because my two sons were regulars and baseball was something we shared. They have both moved on.”
Well I can kind of agree with that
PSA is most fun when the Yankees win. The Yankees won in 2009, so that period was probably when the site was most enjoyable. But it doesn’t have much to do with the people- we have a lot more knowledgeable and interesting people now than we had in 2009.

Thanks for the memories Jorge
Of course I want the Yankees to win,
but that has no bearing on how much I enjoy PSA. I love baseball. + I love talking baseball. + I love the Yankees. = I love PSA

i do not know why
But there is very little debate anymore. We seem to come up with fewer original ideas. I think the quality is way down at Lohud too. And success has made River Ave Blues more careful and less interesting.
Are we jusr content with our team?

I think that’s an interesting point.
I also feel that the quality of amateur analysis has plateaued. Five years ago we couldn’t imagine what we’re able to do now with Pfx data, or that it would be publicly available. Now, unless you’re really into the numbers, there hasn’t been a significant advancement in our understanding of the game in the last couple seasons.
there is very little debate anymore.
Well, when someone comes along and starts a “debate” many here treat said person with disrespect, thus they rarely comment again, if ever. Whatcha expect?

I don't know about that.
I mean if you suggest the Yankees acquire a superstar or someone who is unavailable and give up little, we can’t exactly do much but dismiss that.
I would say that there could be a good debate about the potential #5 spot in the rotation and that we should get some interesting thoughts on the competition. There is debate about the DH position as well, not to mention the debate on the Montero/Pineda trade that will last awhile. The debates that are going on right now are quite good, I think.
Do you really miss JOBA TO TEH PEN that much?

Little debate?!
This place was crazy with debate over Pineda/Montero. I dont recall there ever being a heavier debate about anything here. It seemed like there was a 50/50 split on that deal and everybody voiced an opinion.
No disrespect to any of the previous writers but I think the staff PSA currently has, its its best. They are a bright bunch, that seem very passionate about our team and the posts have been top notch and educational at times.
Should you choose to test my resolve in this matter, you will be facing a finality beyond your comprehension, and you will not be counting days, or months, or years, but milleniums in a place with no doors.

Selections were very good
Change is good, it brings a fresh outlook on stuff. I just cant believe that people think this place isnt as good as it once was. Personally, I think its even better.

I think it's much better
than when I first joined. I’m not talking about the writers, although I do like the current crew, I just think the discussion has improved greatly.
