"WHO WOULD LEAD?! THE CLOWN?!"

Someone needs to teach Swisher the proper way to do push-ups. Terrible form...
Just once I'd like someone to call me "Sir," without adding, "You're making a scene."
Questions for everyone!
Since Jeter and Mo are first-ballot hall of famers. What will their % be?
Will there ever be a unanimous first-ballot hall of famer? If so, Who?
BSME
It should be Mo
It probably won’t be though

There was an article written sometime this season that Jeter had a chance to be the first unanimous HoF’er

Check out the absurdity of some of the percentages. For example, Cy Young 76%? Rogers Hornsby 78%? Really?

Seriously though, I doubt it happens for a long time. Some pitcher on a great team that never misses the playoffs starts pitching at ~20 years old, is immediately a success and has a long career.
Probably a Yankee or Red Sock in this scenario, probably gets a bunch of playoff wins, strikeout pitcher.
Who knows if there will ever be this guy, but that’s what it has to take

For a hitter, gotta be 5 tool player that the naysayers can’t use any of the main arguments against.
Enters winning team lineup at young age, great power+speed.
Think maybe 500 club, 400 SB club, OBP <.385 Batting Average <.300 probably 3,000+ hits

Which is sad
I’m not saying Bonds would get unanimous but it would be a disservice to baseball to keep the best all around player from this generation out of the hall of fame. He’s not a great role model, but the baseball hall of fame is a place for the greatest baseball players of all time to be honored. There is absolutely no way to argue that Bonds is not in that category, steroids or not.
I'll do whatever it takes to win games, whether it's sitting on a bench waving a towel, handing a cup of water to a teammate, or hitting the game-winning shot.- Kobe Bryant
A.J. Burnett's only fan!
The voters don't only look at stats
They were talking about it on the MLB Network today before Larkin’s announcement. The writers DO take into account character, community involvement and how they affected the game beyond their stats. Maybe not with Cobb, but I don’t think Bonds is going to get in for a LONG time.
Maybe so
But just because a person wasn’t a great role model doesn’t mean they don’t belong in the hall of fame. The most important thing is performance on the field, and Bonds’ numbers are top 10 of all time material.
I don’t mean to defend Bonds or condone steroids- I hate Bonds. But as a baseball fan I can appreciate how good he was, and to me it just doesn’t make sense to keep him out. That said, I could definitely see him not getting voted in. I just don’t agree with it.

I’m rooting for Bama despite my hatred for Saban. Want to see chaos, maybe it will (though not likely) help us get a playoff system.

The NFL is going to be equally composed of run/muscle QB’s as it is pocket passers in five-ten years. True or false?
Example: equal Newton’s to Brady’s

I think we could see a lot more little league teams put their biggest guy at QB instead of LB to Newtonize the QB position, though.

Then again for every Newton there’s a JaMarcus Russell. LSU had D.C. Jefferson, a huge QB and he transferred to Rutgers to be a TE so he could have a chance at NFL in a different way.

I'm skeptical as well.
The big, strong pocket passer has been so iconic in the NFL and there have NOT been too many mobile QB’s that have had extended success and won championships. The only guy I can think of is Steve Young. Eventually the defenses WILL come up with a way to neutralize the running aspect of their game and they will HAVE to rely on becoming passers.
they said that when McNabb, Akili Smith and Dante Culpepper entered the league
Vick was gonna revolutionize the league. Yea hah

oh, it's so hard to hold back
on a comment about good manners (not talking with one’s mouth full)… grits teeth, waits for urge to pass…
in baseball-related news, is there any chance that texas doesn’t reel in darvish? it would certainly be interesting if he went all this way only to make a “statement” by not agreeing to terms… more so in light of the fact that, even with the posting system, he’s going to be offered more than he could ever hope to get playing in japan (where the recent news was a second pitcher, rakuten’s tanaka, joining the 300 million yen a year club: less than 4 million even with the super-strong yen)…

by long time listener on Jan 9, 2012 10:38 PM EST up reply actions
oh, i'm sure that they want to sign him
my question had more to do with what the PLAYER has in mind than what the TEAM has in mind. frankly, i’d be shocked, too—but there’s still this idea in the back of my mind that darvish really could be just the guy to do the dramatic, virtually unprecedented thing… of course, that voice might also be my wishful thinking that darvish re-emerges on the market next year (or the year after) and the yankees make a serious run… 99.9% of me says it’ll go down as you say, but… well, wishful thinking is part of what makes fans fanatics…

I think Richardson would run all over OK St, but I think Oklahoma St could score on LSU, and LSU’s offense wouldn’t score much.

I’d argue that these 2 did kind of earn their way in. One is undefeated and the other only lost to the undefeated one by a field goal in overtime. They also play in the SEC, which I think is more competitive than than Big 12.
