We're Doomed...
I was recently thinking about the rotation, suddenly it all became clear to me. I have a four step plan to ensure greatness for many years to come.
Step 1: The rotation is a big question mark to me, CC Sabathia is due for a down year, we should trade him for Carl Pavano. We will probably have to eat all of CC's contract because everyone around the league is aware of his declining skills. Next, we must aquire a true ace, John Lackey could easily be the center of our rotation for years to come. After his stellar 2011 campaign, it might take both Banuelos and Betances to pry him away from the Sox. This should complete our rotation.
Step 2: I'm worried about our infield. Cano is a left-handed hitter, I don't think Alexander Cartwright envisioned left-handed hitting second basemen when inventing the game of baseball. Therefore, he must be released; in order to fill the void, we need to bring Jorge Posada back to his natural position. He could likely be coaxed out of retirement with a 7 year 125 million dollar contract with a full no-trade clause. Jeter, wow where do I start with this guy. He's a cancer in the locker room, to salvage our team we must deal him for some young talent. We should trade him for Montero and Felix Hernandez. After doing so, we can try to deal them in a two-for-one, and receive Sean Rodriguez from the Rays. His .223 average last season makes him a perfect leadoff hitter, and who could resist having two players with the same last name on the left side of the infield.
Step 3: Our outfield is realy lacking in talent. Curtis Granderson is coming off a great season, so we should trade him while his trade value is at its highest. Vernon Wells is an excellent player, and he doesn't really enjoy the warm weather in Southern California. Brett Gardner is another reason for concern, his lack of power is alarming. The only logical thing to do would be to designate him for assignment. To replace him, Gary Sanchez would be the most intelligent choice. He played catcher last year, so we know he can catch the ball and there are reports that he can hit as well.
Step 4: The bench is one of the most essential parts of a good team; we are currently lacking one. Currently our bench is made of maple and is 28.62 feet long. However, recent studies have shown that sitting on a bamboo bench increases speed, strength, agility, coordination, and stamina by a whopping 217%.
By making the aforementioned changes to the Yankees, I believe that the 2012 Yankees can become the greatest team of all time, surpassing the 1927 Yankees and of course, the 2011 Red Sox.

Thanks for the memories Jorge
Well,
if anyone could recover at a miraculous rate from such a procedure, it would be John Lackey. The guy has an outstanding work ethic, the allegations of him eating fried chicken and drinking beer in the clubhouse during games are completely false. The chicken was GRILLED.

Nicely done Sanchize.
Maybe for next year though, spend less time on this posts and more time learning Sparano’s playbook. Be nice if this time of year you were preparing for the Superbowl.
So...
1B – Teixeira
2B – Jorge Posada
3B – A-Rod
SS – Sean Rodriguez
LF – Vernon Wells
CF – Gary Sanchez
RF – Swisher
C – Jesus Montero
SP – Carl Pavano
SP – John Lackey
SP – Ivan Nova
SP – AJ Burnett
all of these players’ speed, strength, agility, coordination, and stamina +217%.
But Jesus Montero is back??? Sign me up!
