Analyzing the Red Sox Shortstop Situation
After flipping both Jed Lowrie and Marco Scutaro, the presumed platoon of Mike Aviles and Nick Punto leaves something to be desired. The next shoe to drop will likely be a starting pitcher, with Roy Oswalt seeming like a logical choice.

Some More Ryan Braun Speculation
There still has been no further resolution to Braun's positive PED test. While a positive test is akin to having your fingerprints on the murder weapon, there have been whispers throughout that Braun might just be innocent. I have nothing novel to share on the subject, but I hope he does come out of this in a better light.

The Latest on Prince Fielder
Twitter rumors that had Fielder on the cusp of signing a deal with the Nationals last night have since cooled off. Twitter! The Nationals and Orioles are both considered to be top suitors.

The Red Stockings have a shortstop in the minors named Inglesias whom they think is the long- term solution.

He can’t hit, but is supposedly a wizard with the glove. The sawx may think he’s a year away, or may call him up on the theory they have enough bats elsewhere in the lineup.

The Yankees should be sold, just to put the sales price record out of reach.

He put up a 550 OPS, in AAA.

He’s more than a year away, if ever.

Can they even afford him?

I guess there’s no reason for them not to do it

aside from the fact that they would still suck…and that its the Orioles we’re talking about…

by jetanumba2 on Jan 23, 2012 6:15 PM EST up reply actions

that it would

which mean the Orioles are against it.

I’d be ok with it if only to see my Orioles fan friend actually not be depressed when I try to talk about baseball with him.

He aims high for someone who doesn't have a big ego

Although it could just be positive thinking on his part.

I think it just means he was planning on steering himself towards the Yankees at some point. And as long as you’re a quality player, envisioning yourself on the team with the most money is pretty reasonable.

And holy crap that may be the most endearing quote ever.

Not sure which team wins
Sounds like Cody Ross probably ends up with the #RedSox. Don’t think #Mets wanted to spend > $1 million. And they really need a lefty OF bat

The Red Sox get to pay another middling position player when they desperately need pitching, but the Mets don’t have to pay Cody Ross millions of dollars just to continue to lose.

who the hell knows what they’re doing with their money anymore. I bet they go out and sign a shortstop now.
