Projecting the 2012 Yankees
Hey you guys. Over the past week, I have worked on projecting the 2012 Rays. Getting a number I am happy with, I would appreciate it if some of you guys can make some projections for the 2012 Yankees. It should be interesting to compare them with the Rays, as they are very similar teams playing in very different ballparks.
Here are my results: http://www.draysbay.com/2012/1/17/2711484/projecting-the-2012-rays
Here is the spreadsheet: http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2011/11/12/2557029/updated-team-war-spreadsheet
A few notes....
1. Please try to be pessimistic. You can't predict major injuries, but you can project many minor ones and lower the overall numbers to account for injuries.
2. If you are going to use defense for the positional players, then use FIP for the pitchers instead of ERA. I suggest that you use a neutralized wOBA with FIP.
3. Unless there is a strict platoon, it is helpful to list the backups under "reserves" and to not list the specific players.
Thanks!
