Why is this good?

He was by far the best DH candidate left and now he is going to a division rival for cheap.

Same question here. I would have preferred he go to Colorado or something

well its not necessarily 'bad'

we don’t spend $7M on a part time DH, Arod will hopefully get some extra DH days and Nunez/Laird will possibly get a chance as a backup infielder. I’d still be ok if the Yankees traded for a better infielder. Someone like Prado. I don’t think we need more DH’s I think we need more infielders

Pena getting ABs against righties >>>>> Nunez/Laird getting ABs against righties.

would be a coup by cashman if he could get prado. don’t see it happening tho.

The second quote has always been my favorite.

Wouldn’t have minded him for 7.25mill

by cermolaNY2 on Jan 20, 2012 6:58 PM EST reply actions

Seemed like he was pretty set with going back to TB though

by cermolaNY2 on Jan 20, 2012 7:01 PM EST up reply actions

considering he probably would have only played against righties, i’m thinkin 80-90 games, 375-400 at bats. yeah 7.25 mill would’ve been way too much. yanks could prob bring matsui back for around 4 million less to play the same rotational DH role and he could actually hit lefties decent.

Not broken up over this

Too many strikeouts. Loses the added value of being a good defender at 1B when at DH. At best, a poor man’s Tino Martinez. At worst, a guy who can be pitched to consistently.
