Do we go after Cespedes now since Montero is gone
I really don't want to hear that we are on a budget or we can't afford anyone. When the player is right via Kuroda we will have the money under the bed for it. Next year we have Swisher and Kuroda off the books. AJ and Soriano are in the last years of horrible contracts. I think it will be easy to move Soriano because everyone needs a closer. With AJ, you might be able to get a deal like a Zambarno. Some team trying to compete like the Nats or Marlins take a shot. Getting back to this year. I think Cespedes could be a better fit than Montero for the DH role. He could play all three spots. When he plays left you could move Swisher to first and give Tex the day off. I think they should offer him a 4 years 35 mill deal. That's just under 9 mill a year. He's asking for a 5 year 50 mill deal but just like how people were saying that Yu bid would be almost double of what Dis-k got. He's telling GM's to try and get a bigger deal than what he's worth. I know he has bad numbers right now in winter ball. He just left Cuba, he signed with the first team that took him and I think he's worry a little more about where he is going to play this summer.
If the so call "budget" wasn't a factor and you could get him for under 10 mill a year would you sign Cespedes?

Not really. Ryan Madson had to settle for a one-year deal and will be back on the open market barring a Red’s extension.
Hopefully, Soriano opts out of his 2013 $14m player option.
Even if the Yankees ate some of AJ’s contract and managed to trade him, it would still count against Yankees’ payroll.
With Cespedes, there is also the big question of whether he’s ready to play in MLB or will need time in the minors.
I don't think he'll opt out
It’s unlikely he’ll make more on the open market than he’s making now, even if he has a lights out year. And if Mariano retires I think he’ll want a chance to win the closer role for the Yankees in 2013. It probably should be Robertson’s (though it depends on 2012), but I think Girardi will likely make some sort of competition anyways.
I'll do whatever it takes to win games, whether it's sitting on a bench waving a towel, handing a cup of water to a teammate, or hitting the game-winning shot.- Kobe Bryant

Cespedes is 26 and much of this comes from hype
I prefer Soler, who is only 19 and that allows the team take more time to properly develop him.
Last I heard, Cespedes still hadn’t gotten the ball out of the infield in winter ball. No thanks.

i heard 1 for 12 8k
his one hit was an infield single, and i also heard he can’t hit anything but a fastball, that and his mechanics are actually putrid
No. No we most certainly do not!

I don't think it's a good idea
Not to say he’s not talented, but I think I’d rather go after Jorge Soler. He’s 19 years old with loads of raw talent and potential. In a system that is lacking outfield prospects he might be a good one to have.

lacking outfield prospect?
The yanks are loaded in the lower minor leagues with very toolsy talent. Raval Santana? Slade heathcoat? Mason Williams. All are top seven. Not ready now but will come fast.
