Girardi said he "can't envision a scenario" where Montero isn't on post-season roster. No shock there.

Going into the last Yankees-Red Sox series of the season, which analyst predicted the following would be the case?

-The Yankees clinched home field advantage

-The Red Sox are in the midst of an epic collapse

-Jesus Montero was the star of game one of the series

-Freddy Garcia pitched a gem in an already stellar season

-The Red Sox are in the middle of a tight AL Wild Card race

Not many analysts did, if any did, but those are all true as we head into the second game of the last series between the two teams of the season, unless the two play in the ALCS.

The Yankees can really help the Rays, their next opponent, by sweeping the Red Sox. I would not mind that the slightest bit.

So…this is the one we don’t really want to win? Good thing it’s the one that’s televised on the WC.

Also, that’s a pretty innovative managing strategy, playing two LF.

A little birdie says the New York Yankees were set to trade for Twins pitcher Francisco Liriano this season until the left-hander disappointed in a couple of starts leading up to what would have been the deal.
