We have a nice lead, but...

This really isn't over.

What do we have to do to make the playoffs? Really not much. We have 11 games left. To make the playoffs we need to win 2 of 7 against Tampa, then one of the 4 remaining games. That should be pretty easy, but it is not certain.

To win the division we need to beat the Red Sox. If we get 2 of 3 from the Sox we should be OK. We cannot count on much help from the O's against the RS but the RS are playing pretty poorly too.

I wonder if there is any way for us to right the ship and get so we start the playoffs playing well?

We're also not the Pissants

The Yankees have stumbled a bit too, but there’s really no reason to go spreading fear like we’re going to collapse like them.

Tampa’s had Bahston’s number all year, but the Yankees have played TB well. Our problem is all the games we’ve been playing, not necessarily lack of talent or injuries like the Pissants have.

right the ship

Yanks can’t assume a playoff spot, need to play like every game from today to the end of the season as a win.Giradi should know this by now or he will have us out of the playoffs and wondering who we got for Ian Kennedy, and others. As it has been most of the season our starting pitching for the season’s end has been a critical concern and has not been effectively addressed. After CC,Nova, and a lot of ???

Well obviously

Why’d the Yankees trade a Cy Young candidate like Kennedy for a scrub outfielder again? And they traded a once in a lifetime defensive outfielder in the deal as well. And they traded Phil Coke, who is a lefty, and therefore one of the most valuable players in the league.

Definitely not one of Cashman’s brighter moves.

ehh

Kennedy was a scrub here. He needed a smaller market, and the weak NL West to excel.

We gave up on Kennedy

He had problems, we gave up. We also gave up on Joba as a starter. It seems to me we are trying hard not to give up on AJ or Hughes. I wonder if the loyalty to those two is a reaction to the obvious error on IPK.

Kennedy never would have gotten another shot here. His shot was in 2008, and he didn’t stick. Look at the difference between what he did in his ~40 innings in his year 23 season vs. what Nova did with almost the same number of innings in his year 23 season. Nova last year wasn’t amazing, but he showed promise, and his biggest flaws were things that could be easily fixed. Kennedy, on the other hand, got really knocked around, had a BB% over 13%, and an ERA over 8. With Joba and Hughes both looking way better than him, he blew the only chance he was going to get here, especially after they picked up CC and AJ for the 2009 season.

Obviously

Not giving him another chance, after his surgery was one of our biggest personnel errors.

Yeah, that Curtis Granderson guy has been horrible this year. What a terrible trade that was.

Kennedy gets his ass kicked hard in the AL

And is not going to be this good next year in the NL either. Flash in the Granderson I mean pan.

Congrats to all who have turned PA into the Yahoo comment boards. New it couldn't last forever. Damn idiots had to go and win the World Series. The dude at the 7 eleven keeps saying fat man in undearwear punch my eye.
