I agree. Thankfully we have a back-up catcher in Montero, but that's not what im concerned about. Feel Better Cisco!

Im worried about his long term playing prospects
morneau tapped his head against someones knee and was still feeling it early this year. Cervelli’s stemed from getting run over in a bad collision. Very Worried because he was a much needed spark every 5 or so days.

All I can say is I hope Cervelli truly doesn’t play until he is fully capable to. Don’t know if that’ll ever happen, but if it doesn’t, he shouldn’t play.

Agreed
And we may actually see both Montero and Romine on the playoff roster if Cervelli isn’t ready. If Montero is taken, I assume they’d want him to DH some, which means they’d need another backup catcher. Romine being more sure-handed defensively fits the bill.

Obviously the first concern has to be for his health
Concussions are a serious business, and I hope he gets well soon.
Have to agree. 4 concussions is a career- threatening number.
If Cervelli could play another position, I would move him to it, but his value to the Yankees is as a catcher because of his limited bat.

Cervelli has played some third in the majors just for practice, but the reality is his main reason for being on any roster is because of his defense at catcher (or perceived defense at catcher)
He doesn’t have a career elsewhere.
