Season Awards.....So Far
MVP Award- Curtis Granderson. He has been great this year. Great batting and defense. As of today he leads the Yankees in RBI's, Runs Scored, and HR's (tied with Teixera). He is having a MVP caliber year. He is in the running for AL MVP. I think the runner-up for MVP would have to be Mark Teixera. Probabily the best fielding FirstBaseman in the MLB. One of the Best Hitters in the league also.
Cy Young Award- CC Sabathia. He has the most wins in the MLB as of now with 14, which is only 1 more than Verlander and Weaver. He has a sparkling 2.62 ERA and a .235 opponett Batting Adverage. He is also 2nd in the MLB in Innings Pitch with 161.2. The runner up would have to be David Robertson. He is having a break-out year that no one expected.
Rookie Of the Year Award- Ivan Nova. He was sent down to AAA sadly but he had a great time in New York. He had a record of 8-4 and an ERA of 4.12. It is a shame that he was sent down. He is betetr than Hughes and maybe Garcia. Sometimes I dont understand Joe Girardi.
Gold Glove Awards- Brett Gardner and Mark Teixera- They are both excellent fielders. Gardner is my favorite Yankee because of his hard work and determation. He still plays like he has to prove that he should be at the MLB level. Teix is overlooked as a fielder because of his Batting Stats. The runner-up would have to be Russell Martin. His best feature is his defense. Lately he has been strugling at the plate.
Silver Slugger Award- Robinson Cano. He is the Defending Home Run Derby Champion. Great Hitter and the prettiest swing in the MLB. This post-season should be his 2nd straight Silver Slugger Award. Runner-Up is: Curtis Granderson/Mark Teixeria.
Delivery of the Year- David Roberston. I think no one expected him to be this dominant this year. Her has 61 K's in only 38.1 Innings Pitched. That's about 1.6 K's per Inning. His Era is 1.17. He is 5th in ERA with players over 10 innings pitched. The Runner up is: Mariano Rivera, he is 10th in the league with 24 saves. He has 583 Career saves and is only 18 saves away from Trever Hoffman, for most career saves in ML History. He may not do it this year but he should return next year to try to break the record.
Comeback Player of the Year- Bartolo Colon. His first time pitching since 2005. Great Job Bench Coach Tony Pena on convincing Bartolo to come to the Yankees this off-season. He is 6-6 with a 3.34 ERA.
Player of the Month- Brett Gardner. In the last 30 days he is batting .294 and has 16 SB's. He is currently riding a 10 Game Hitting Streak. In the last 7 days he is 5th in the MLB in batting adverage. He is currently 2nd in the MLB in Stolen Bases with 30 and he is only 7 away from league leader Michael Bourn.

I like what you did, but I’d disagree with some of your choices.
If Granderson is your MVP, how is he not your Silver Slugger? He’s been a better hitter than Cano. More power, better OBP, not much to argue with by taking Granderson there.
Martin can block pitches in the dirt, but by no means do I think he should be in consideration for a Gold Glove.
Also Tex has not been one of the best hitters in the league, especially lately. On the season, he’s 13th among qualifying 1B in wRC+ and tied for twelth in wOBA. For some reason, he’s forgotten what line drives and doubles look like.

Nova
Had the bad fortune to be the guy with options left out of the the Nova, Colon, Garcia trio.
The only thing that makes zero sense whatsoever is when you say Teixeira is the runner-up most valuable player. He’s hardly the runner-up MVP of first basemen.

he's definitely not the runner up MVP for the Yankees
so what are you talking about.
I’d put CC, Cano, A-Rod, Gardner and probably even David Robertson above Teixeria right now as far as being more valuable. And Swisher’s pretty much moved past him given his excellent hitting the past 2 months.

RBI's are not a good way to judge a player
if he was batting in Tex’s spot in the lineup, he’d have more like 60RBis. THo the point of this is that he’s more valuable to the Yankees then Tex, hence the “above Teixeria” point.

But he isnt at Teix's spot. If anything Curtis is our MVP. Most runs scored. He leads the league by 13 and i think he has like 90 or something. Not everyone is gonna agree about my choices. Live with it.

by BrettGardnerLF on Jul 25, 2011 3:12 PM EDT up reply actions
I said Curtis is the MVP
and again, runs scored is not something a player can control so its not a reason to say someone is an MVP.
Tex bats third. Why, no one really knows but he does. That’s why he gets RBIs, not cuz he’s valuable to the team. Live with it.
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
What he’s saying is that Gardner doesn’t hit in a spot that screams RBI opportunities. Mark Teixeira gets to hit behind Jeter/Gardner and Granderson, which screams RBI opportunities.
Granderson has 90 runs because he’s hit in front of Tex, Arod and Cano all year, and he gets on base.
These stats are not individually based. They require other players to do something in return, which is why it is not a good evaluative tool for one individual player.

When you say Granderson is in the running for American League MVP and then follow that up by saying that Mark Teixeira is the runner-up MVP, that has no indication of a “Yankees edition award”. So excuse me for being confused by how you organize your thoughts.

When one makes a lot of duplicate accounts, it seems reasonable they'd continue to do so.
When they post the same way, it becomes even more obvious. Really not that hard to guess.

I wasn't surprised by Robertson's 'breakout' year. So there.
I liked him since he was a rookie in 2009, when i pissed that he hardly got into the World Series.
The only difference between this year and last year is that this year Robertson was given a chance in high leverage situations.
If you have to be on the team to be Rookie of the Year (an annoyingly petty requirement, otherwise I would vote for Montero), then you have to go with Nunez.
Player of the month is Nick Swisher.
