Yankees Links: Closers, the AL East and Sabathia
Which closer has the best celebration? What about the worst? Jeff Freier broke them all down into categories to make it easy.
- What does a 2.5 game divisional lead mean at this point?
- CC Sabathia's 13 strikeouts yesterday were the most by a Yankee since Roger Clemens in 2002.
- In case you missed the details, here is a thorough text and video breakdown of Phil Hughes' last rehab start in Trenton.

Mo has the best celebration
None.
Act like you’ve been there before…five or six hundred times.
We don't play for the wild card around here kid

Whitey Ford
was the same way. He would get the third out & just walk off the mound toward the dugout.

True enough
although he did have 60 relief appearances scattered through his career; he was another great pitcher who had no need for show.

The best part is that he did that even when he hadn’t.

Figured he’d be with Valverde in the “Complete Douche” category
Yeah, the GIF machine missed all the jigs he was dancing a couple years ago.

That Brian Gordon should start against the Mets. No need to put a bat in the hand of an overwight guy coming off an injury.
You never know what your history is going to be like until long after you're gone.
You remember Pedro batting in the World Series? Stand there and watch the pitch go by. Then get back on the mound.

Best closer celebration? Mo.
99.9% of the time he doesn’t have one. If it’s a particularly important game (playoff, WS), he’ll throw a fist pump in there. Sometimes. He’s the best ever and he doesn’t have to act like King Kong because he got a save. Love him.
