Yankees Outfield
IMO, the starting outfield should be Curtis Granderson, Nick Swisher and Andruw Jones. Why? Although Brett Gardner has speed, he is at best a sub par hitter.
Recently Gardner has raised his average to a whopping .233, still low and has only 6 extra base hits in 90 at bats... I think he should only be used as a backup and in case of injuries. Let him pinch run, then you utilize his speed and he does not have to swing the bat.

Epic Failure
1. Batting average eats corn the long way
2. Gardner had a piss poor start, but has been otherworldly the last two-plus weeks (I’m talkin .700 OBP)
3. Gardner has our second best walk-rate (behind Swish)
4. Gardner plays fantastic defense
So I cut his wrist...vertically!! He was on the floor dyin'...makin a sceene!!

I don’t think I’ve ever heard that expression before.

Jones is a sub par hitter
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
Now if he DH'd against left handed pitchers rather than Posada, I might not have a problem with that

This is a big fat no
Gardner started slow but has been getting on base at a good rate lately. He’s MUCH better on defense. He’s a terror on the basepaths (you know, when he actually decides to run). So, besides the fact that Gardner is better on offense, defense, and the basepaths…yeah, starting Jones is a great idea.
I will throw in a caveat that I’m glad Andruw Jones is the 4th outfielder. There’s a little left in the tank and he must be a blast to have in the clubhouse.
I dispense B.S. and facts. It is up to you to figure out which is which.
Batting average!

Gardner is better than average on offense, broski. His wRC+ last year was 121, well above average. He’s sitting at 102 right now, despite the bad start he got off to, which is still slightly above average. Besides that, he is absolutely ridiculous on defense, imo the best defensive outfielder in baseball right now.
I saw a guy in the subway holding a pamphlet that said Jesus was coming on May 12, 2011. I don't think it will be that early, he would still qualify as a super two, so they need to wait until June to delay his arbitration clock.
This would include my thoughts as well.

This has been said by people already, but Jones really isn’t an improvement over Gardy, sorry. The one thing he has over Gardner is power, and in a lineup that’s already stacked with power hitters, they can afford to take a contact hitter with much better defense over Jones.
Unless you're a pitcher or Gustavo Molina, kindly SWING THE BAT and ignore the Binder's bunt signal.
Everyone else has covered this, but if Jones playes every day, his performance would deteriorate from whatever it is one might think he is capable of.
Jones came up in 1996. His performance over the last three years has been trending down. He’s a spot player at this point.

Pitches per AB
Gardner works the pitcher very well, if I’m not mistaken he led the AL in pitches/AB last year. This overlooked skill is so very important…you get through a starter in 100 pitches, you get to middle relievers who generally suck, you get to see all the pitchers on a team. I’d wager huge money that overall a player’s BA vs. a reliever is far higher when that player faced that reliever recently than it would be if you hadn’t seen him for months. Working pitchers is a skill that help your whole team today, tomorrow, even next month as well as fatiguing an opponents staff which could cost them down the line.
