Yankees Have Three Most "Overrated"

A Sports Illustrated poll that asked MLB players to name the "most overrated player" featured three Yankees. Can you guess who they are?

Answers below.

Star-divide

A-Rod (18%), Joba (12%) and Jeter (7%).

The top five were rounded out by Jayson Werth (4%) and Jon Papelbon (4%).

Players clearly seemed to consider salaries when answering the question.

I don't get these polls

So much hate in these things. I understand both A-Rod and Jeter, but Joba? Really? He was overhyped, sure, but I don’t really think he’s overrated anymore. It’s not like they’re paying him $30m to be the 8th inning guy (and then he went to the DL).

I know it’s players, but apparently players aren’t much more aware of the whole baseball world than most fans.

Players

don’t like teh fists pumpz. They don’t feeling like they’re being “shown up”.

I bet it's good to be playing again, huh?

Joba?

He’s had a pretty good year so far. An he’s been prettty lowely rated lately. Jeter is still a damn good player specially considering his age. Arod was having a MVP start to the season. Maybe we should do a poll of overated players on other teams cause there are some pretty bad ones. A lot worse then a former MVP a HOFer and a relief pitcher who hasn’t been the same since a shoulder injury

JOBA?!?!?!?

I expected to see Jeter and A-Rod being that everybody besides Yankees fans seem to hate them with a passion, but I was not expecting Joba at all.

I think Jeter gets a lot of respect from opposing fans

At least from the ones I have come to know over the years
But this is from MLB players

Exactly

Which is why I said EVERYBODY, fans and players alike hate, or maybe are just flat out jealous or A-Rod and Jeter’s success.

I’m pretty sure there was a poll last year that had Joba as the most disliked player in baseball. I’ll see if I can dig it up real quick.

What the hell has Joba done to be so disliked? (besides play for the Yankees that is)

I apologize. It was last year’s SI overrated poll. Joba was #1 in that, too. I’m sure his antics on the mound after he strikes someone out to end an inning aren’t appreciated by hitters or opposing players. The same reason that it’s nearly unbearable to watch Valverde on the mound; he looks like an ass.

Hmm.

I guessed A-Rod would be on the list, but I figured the voters rounded out with Jorge and A.J. Burnett…

Oh well, haters gonna hate…

Jeter makes sense. A-Rod I guess so tho the guy is getting old.

Joba….I dunno, he’s been very good this season. After all the BS over the years since he’s been up here, I’d say he’s underrated at this point even by his own team.

I'm assuming this poll was anonymous

So lame.

Guess some things rarely changed. Joba, A-Rod and Swisher made the list last year.

Don't worry about it

The same guys voting Joba most overrated are getting K’d by him for the rest of the season.

They should call this poll: "Most Hated Players in MLB"

What is Joba doing there? It would be more interesting if they weren’t allowed to pick Yankees.

I think The Midget and Crawford deserve to be in this list too.

The reasons

people have such hate towards those three is simple..
Arod is the biggest douchebag this side of Papeldouche,
Jeter has fans posting things like “Five Ways of Looking at the Legend of Derek Jeter”
And Joba was the next Roger Clemens when he started and we’re still asking whether he should start as if he was any good at that???
