Rafael Soriano To Miss 6-8 Weeks

After his visit to Dr. James Andrews, it turns out Rafael Soriano won't need Tommy John Surgery. He will however be out several weeks with an inflamed ligament in his elbow, revealed by a third MRI conducted today. A potential ETA for his return is the All-Star break.

Elsewhere:

- The Bombers claimed ex-Yankee farmhand Kanekoa Texeira off waivers from the Royals. To make room on the 40-man roster, Phil Hughes was moved to the 60-day DL.

I get the game and watched with Phils fans. As inclined as I am to root against Philly, this is the one only sport where I don’t have to. It was a hell of a game to watch and very exciting/interesting to say the least, haha. Valdez, 1-0, haha? As for Soriano, let him have his surgery, and if the Yankees can hopefully make a run in a few months, we’ll see if he can come back and be the guy we signed him to be.

I had to work late tonight, so I was glad the game went so late

It was something to have on in the background. After 14 innings or so, it was hard not to take an interest. Much less stressful when it’s not our Yankees, isn’t it?

Even my Philly fan friends were kind of pushing for the 19th inning just to see Valdez pitch. I was just sitting back with a brew and having the time of my life, haha. So if Soriano doesn’t come back, we can always consider using our best position player arm every now and then. Charlie Manuel’s onto something.
