Yankees 7, Jays 3: A Series Win
Freddy Garcia was effective, scattering 8 hits and no walks across 6.1 innings of work.
The Yanks blitzed Jo-Jo Reyes for 5 runs in 3 innings and never looked back.
Andruw Jones did his best Marcus Thames impression, blasting 2 homers, while Mark Teixeira added a two-run shot of his own. Curtis Granderson slunk back under the bus for contributing only 2 doubles and an RBI. A grittier baseball player would have willed additional runners onto base so that he could drive them in.
The Rafael Soriano-free bullpen continues to impress, pitching 2.2 innings of shutout ball. Since it wasn't a save situation, David Robertson didn't even bother to walk anyone.
Brett Gardner has 8 stolen bases in 14 attempts. Meanwhile, both Russell Martin and Robinson Cano have improved to 4-4 in stolen base attempts. "Well, you know, Suzyn, you just can't predict baseball, can you?"
The Yankees steal the series win after dropping the opener, and maintain their 1 game (in the loss column) lead over the Red Sox for first place in the AL East.

Alex Avila
I saw a guy in the subway holding a pamphlet that said Jesus was coming on May 21, 2011. I don't think it will be that early, he would still qualify as a super two, so they need to wait until June to delay his arbitration clock.
Andrew Jones is barely on the yankees

You on crack? Andruw Jones?
Winning means you're willing to go longer, work harder, and give more than anyone else.
I do hope that Jones is a joke.

Granderson should have bunted more often, made productive outs, moved the runners. THAT’S how you play baseball. And if there’s no one on, he should shorten up his swing, try to slap it the other way. He’s a speed guy, see? And that’s how speed guys play.
Ask any good baseball man, they’ll tell you.

I agree, 100%
Your opinion is now mine!
Unless you're a pitcher or Gustavo Molina, kindly SWING THE BAT and ignore the Binder's bunt signal.
The Yankees are expecting Rafael Soriano to miss the next 6-8 weeks due to elbow soreness.
Soriano paid a visit to Dr. James Andrews on Wednesday after complaining of elbow issues for a couple of weeks. He doesn’t need Tommy John surgery, but the setup man is going to take the next month or two off. He has a 5.40 ERA and 1.73 WHIP through 15 innings as a first-year Yankee.

We paid how much for this?
Actually, please don’t remind me.

Hmmm, that would be about $1 million per month off?
Or, if you consider he only gets paid for half a year of work, $2million/month roughly?
What do I get paid if I take a month off? Oh, right, $0.00. FML
$2 million per month of work, and he was supposed to be a bridge to Mo.
5.40 ERA and 1.73 WHIP later, here we are…

As usual this season, these standings surprise me
The Cleveland Indians are leading the league, Minesota Twins are worst in the Central, we’re only one game ahead of Milwaukee in the loss column, and we’re sixth overall in major league baseball by win percentage.
Why are you comparing the Yanks to an NL team?
It doesn’t matter if the Brewers win 150 games or not.
Unless you're a pitcher or Gustavo Molina, kindly SWING THE BAT and ignore the Binder's bunt signal.
The Brewers are an AL team in a thirteen year-old disguise
Usqueadbaugham! Anam muck an dhoul ! Did ye drink me doornail?
Well, they were
an AL team not that long ago. Maybe yanksrule just recently awoke from a long coma. Or something.
I bet it's good to be playing again, huh?
I knew we would win today.
I mean we were playing Jo-Jo Reyes.
Andruw Jones homering twice today
reminded me of when ’96 when he went deep twice in Game 1 at the age of 19. Seriously, what the hell were we doing at the age of 19???
Not bad
