I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the results from this poll won't be quite as high as our previous scores.
The New York Yankees, losers of five straight and nine of their last twelve, have most definitely fallen into a May swoon. Most culpable have been the bats, most notably Alex Rodriguez, Nick Swisher, Jorge Posada, and Derek Jeter, but there's plenty of blame to go around. Some of the magic (read, luck) is falling away around Freddy Garcia, Ivan Nova is still inconsistent, the bullpen has not been the strength that it was expected to be, and the Yankees defense has been far from spectacular.
After getting swept at home by the rival Boston Red Sox and beginning a road series with the division leading Tampa Bay Rays, the Yankees are in need of some good play. They are more than capable of getting back on the right track and winning some baseball games, but first and foremost, the Yankees need to stop beating themselves.
If the Boston Red Sox proved anything, it is that an awful twelve game run early in the season does not sink a team. It was foolish to think that the Red Sox would never be able to recover from their 2-10 start, and it would be foolish to think that the Yankees can't turn a 3-9 stretch around.
There's still a lot of baseball left to be played, and given the talent on this roster, I expect it to be played at a much higher level than what we have seen the past week. But, as of May 16th, how confident are you feeling about the New York Yankees?
