Amaury Sanit Called Up to The Bronx

The 31-year-old will get his first shot in the Bigs due to last night's taxing of the bullpen. Amaury Sanit is a righthander with a fantastic K-rate so far this year in Triple-A: 24 in 16.1 innings. His hit-rate (11/9) and ERA (4.96) leave a lot to be desired though.

Great Idea! Let’s get our worst Triple A relievers and call them up (Carlyle, Sanit, Ayala).

But seriously, why don’t we just call up someone like DJ Mitchell? Or at least Kontos?

These decisions are ridiculous

probably cuz

A) bullpen stats are largely useless

and

B) they Yankees minor league coaches will say who’s ready and who’s not (some players can handle the promotion, others can’t, others they could care less how they feel

and

C) why waste an option on a good player in early May

If Sanit pitches, it’s going to be in long relief in a blowout or when there’s no one left in the pen in the 14th inning. So, all the Yankees really want is someone who can give them length and who they don’t care about letting rot in the pen for weeks at a time with no use. So, Sanit makes perfect sense.

I don't know

If they’re going to pull a Noesi and never pitch him (or use him only in situations like you describe), then it makes sense to call up a guy like Sanit who has no chance at a long-term role. But if the guy is going to get a little bit of time, there’s something to be said for giving an actual prospect a taste of the big leagues.

Well I just still think that using a guy like Wordekemper, Kontos, Sisco, or Whelan would help our team much more.

that's cuz you play MLB or 2K11 and act like its real life

the fact is this dude being brought up is largely just a roster spot to make 25 people. He’ll be used in case of an emergency or if the binder tells Girardi to pitch him.

Those guys you mentioned might be better, but none of these guys are playing so bringing up a player that doesn’t matter is much more the right move.

So suggesting to call up a player that has no long term future in place of one that also has no future but is unsuccesful in the minor leagues makes me the same type of person that thinks we can trade Romine + Joba + Nunez for King Fleix? wow

We can call up one of the guys I suggested and move Carlyle or Ayala to the role that you described, but as of right now we have too many mop-up pitchers.

I said nothing of Felix Hernandez

point is you’re thinking of player A being better then player B like someone who’s playing a video game would think. That’s not the point. This move is not even to make the team better.

Whoever comes up is a mop up guy, that’s really it. One of the guys you mentioned should not be that. They should be pitching, not wasting a roster spot up here.

You told me I was someone who plays MLB or 2K11 (i dont) and came here.

Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that we shouldn’t have three garbage relievers on the team. We can use a guy like Sanit as the mopup man but in that case we can’t have Carlyle and Ayala taking up spots that real major league players should have.

the players you mentioned aren't exactly not garbage relievers at this point

Now that Carlyle was sent down I’m completely fine with Sanit being here.

strange

Pena was the one sent down, not Carlyle.

Maybe

This means we’ll lose one of Carlyle/Ayala/Sanit soon and (finally) bring up El Chato?

Cup of coffee

Sanit gets his 7 to 15 days on the roster to tell his grandkids about. He’ll be up and down again faster than a jackrabbit on a pogo stick.

After this game, he’ll probably only be up for a day lol.

Unless you're a pitcher or Gustavo Molina, kindly SWING THE BAT and ignore the Binder's bunt signal.
