Rafael Soriano Bolts Clubhouse After Blowing 4-run Lead
He was nowhere to be found after tonight's atrocious outing: .2 ip, 4 er, 1 h, 3 bb, 1 k.
BTW, it was the first time in his career he ever walked three batters in an inning.

This is the worst thing that happened tonight
Blowing a game happens, but if the guy who blew it can’t handle the fact that it happened and move on, that is bad news.
Again, every once in a while we get legitimate excuses for this. I remember a couple of years ago, or maybe even last year, Mariano left after blowing a save, and it was for a completely legitimate reason. Before we found out the reason people were saying he’s changed, and this, and that, so until we know for sure, let’s not jump to conclusions.
That being said, I’d be surprised if he has a good excuse.

Lets go Rangers!
R-U! R-U! R-U! R-U!
He'll probably say he had diarreah and
wanted to use his home bathroom.
Or he should have stayed and answered questions and then left. This is the NY Yankees. A player should expect the biggest media circus after every game (and know that when they sign a contract or agree to a trade, if they’re not traded to the Yankees). And the proven veterans get some leeway because not only have they proven themselves as Yankees, they’ve always been there after the game to talk. For a new player to do this, it’s very odd and will not be taken well by probably anyone, unless he has a 100% legitimate excuse like “My wife was giving birth to my child” or “My mom [or dad] is dying and I wanted to see them before they passed away.”
Then there was the time
Mo blew a save, and after the game accepted full responsibility for the loss… and only later did another Yankee reveal that Mo had been up all night sick with the flu and had puked earlier that day. That’s way, way over the top responsibility!
I sincerely hope Soriano can find some huevos to accept a poor performance, then use the negative energy to do better the next time.
Can’t say I’m all that thrilled about a guy who sulks away (if that is truly what happened) after a tough outing.
yea he should have

Thanks for the memories Andy
He probably went to the Angry Dome

I know a Rays fan
And he said Soriano only had 3 or 4 bad outings last year, so hopefully its just a blip.
yeah
He only gave up 12 earned runs over 62.1 innings for the Rays.
Funny how no one seems to realize that he only played for the Rays for one season, even though he spent four seasons in Atlanta and five seasons in Seattle. Not to mention that last season was only the second season his ERA was below 2 since 2003, although his career ERA is 2.72.
Uh oh
This guy hasn’t seemed like a good personality for New York since the beginning.

I don't think he's a true
Yankee. Nope. I can see it.
Nothing like sheer panic in April
Remember when Rivera gave up a grand slam to the Twins late in a game last year? People managed to hold it together then. How about we give the guy a few weeks before we declaring him another free agent bust.

True
But that is Mo. Mo could stop me in traffic get in my back seat, take a massive dump, pimp smack the back of my head, get out and slam the door and I would probably scream the lyrics to “Enter Sandman” the whole ride home happy.

At least he didn't assault any camermen

Anyone can blow a save. Anyone can not want to answer questions about it.
Anyone can not want to face divisional opponents in meaningless exhibition games.
But when one adds those things together, a troubling picture begins to emerge.

For me,
that picture emerged when we were stupid enough to give him 30 something million dollars.
I bet it's good to be playing again, huh?
While granting him the ability to opt out after every year, or not opt out if he sucks...
Sigh. It’s still ugly.

Sorry Soriano ...
I wouldn’t dump on the guy just yet. This was on Joe, in my opinion. I’m cutting him some slack on bolting last night. I suppose in Tampa that kind of crap can happen and nobody really cares. We all know that isn’t tolerated in Yankeeland. Somebody will talk to him and it will take care of itself.
Joe shouldn’t have put him into a 4-0 game. This guy has a closer’s mentality, and when you drop closers into “garbage-time” games they suck. Girardi should have tapped Robertson, Joba, Logan, or just let CC finish what he started.
