Should we take Rafael Soriano Out of the 8th inning role?
What do you think Micro Machine Joe should do about the 8th Inning? You know Cashman is bitter sweet right now with his 35 Mill smile. I think Soriano will bounce back to what he was last year. I just think right now he needs to pitch the 6th or 7th. So if he does blow the hold they don't have just the bottom of the 8th and 9th to come back. I think the ball should go to David Robertson in the 8th. I really don't want to see the 92 mph drunk take the ball. It will be Soriano 2.0 this year. Who do you think should have the ball in the 8th till Soriano gets back on track???

I wouldn’t mind if they gave the ball to Robinson or Joba. At this point they are both better then Soriano. I must say I am suprised at how poorly Soriano is pitching. He got closer money and the opt out clause. I figured he would pitch great, opt out and then get paid (again) to close elsewhere.

There should be no 8th inning guy, just pitch whoever’s doing well and rested. Specialization is such a pain…
Unless you're a pitcher or Gustavo Molina, kindly SWING THE BAT and ignore the Binder's bunt signal.
They should probably not make anyone the 8th inning guy

Scooby
Has hit the nail on the head. Never panic in April.
I'm not sure who the 8th inning guy would be if not Soriano. Joba is no more reliable.
Feliciano is a rumor. Millwood is n the minors throwing 86 mph. Mariano is the closer. Gaudin and Mitre are gone. Boone Logan has an issue with right handers. That leaves… David Robertson. The problem with Robertson is that he’s too good at saving other people’s asses in the 6th and 7th.
Live with Soriano a while longer.

Don't say these things
Gaudin has been gone before. Here is to hoping he stays that way.

It would be tough to trade Soriano with that contract.
He makes too much money if he honors his contract, and he can opt out of it, so any team acquiring him is getting an expensive rental.

More time...
We all know how difficult it is had been for even future HOFers to walk into the Bronx and take more time than we would like settling in. Look and Goose back in ‘78 (I think). Took him forever to finally settle-in and provide us with a solid stop man in the 8th, 9th. Alex was a non-factor in the playoffs until ’09.Let’s just hope that Soriano finds his groove earlier than Gossage did. He’ll be just fine lets not panic in April…

everyone was a non-factor in the playoffs from the 2004 collapse until 2009 happened.
