Yankees and Orioles play to scoreless draw
What is this, soccer?! Regardless, neither team was able to crack the scoreboard after nine innings so they ended the contest.
The clubs combined for just 10 hits (the Yanks had four, singles by Jeter, Arod and Damon Sublett, and a double by Melky Mesa).
Sergio Mitre threw three innings, allowing three hits without a walk. Adam Warren, Andy Sisco, D.J. Mitchell and Ryan Pope combined for the final six frames.
The play of the game was probably Greg "The Gun" Golson's throw to nail Mark Reynolds at home-plate in the second inning, preserving the tie. Unfortunately, Golson later left the game with a "right ribcage injury," probably sustained during the aforementioned throw.
A day game tomorrow features Freddy Garcia against the Braves.

I feel the same way about neckties
Unless they’re Pierre Cardins.

Sergio
No matter how well he pitches during Spring Training, he shouldn’t be taken seriously simply because he is Sergio Mitre.
Yeah, to me this game was a disappointment
I was really hoping that Mitre would get slammed around so it could knock all ideas out of Girardi’s head that he should even be considered for the starting rotation. Not only do I not want to see Mitre in the rotation but he gets beat out for that last bullpen spot. I would rather some young guy like Hector Noesi fill that jack-of-all-trades type role than him. That role is important to our pen because who ever fill it will be asked to do what Aceves was doing the last couple of years. Mitre can’t fill that role because he takes forever to warm up and we may need that guy quickly to save the starter if he gets into trouble in say the 5th inning. To me, the only role this guy can be successful in is being a mop-up guy. Considering we already have two specialty relievers we probably shouldn’t be wasting a spot in the pen for that.
I still don’t get it, why does Girardi love this guy so much? He has a habbit of loving these guys who are nothing but trash. Girardi has always a thing for guys like Farnsworth, Hawkins, Cody Ransom, Edwar Ramirez, Chan Ho Park, Brunney and Mitre, all guy who are scrubs at best.
Mitre did get slammed around. The balls just ended up going at fielders and Golson nailed a runner at home on an absolutely perfect throw. He pitched well at times, but also threw a LOT of very hittable pitches, so basically, vintage Sergio Mitre.
