Yessssss.......

Does this push everyone’s day to pitch back one day? Garcia and Colon both in the pen must mean that they traded Joba.

I knew there was a reason they still didn't announce our game 1 starter!

While he's there

Convince him to come out of retirement, resign and join the rotation!

Thanks for the memories Andy

I can’t name a reason why, but Mussina was my favorite player from the day he became a Yankee to the day he retired. I just loved to watch him pitch every single time he did.

He had a nice guy vibe, but at the same time was a fierce competitor. My favorite memory of him was when he pointed Torre back to the dugout when he tried to take him out after losing a no-hitter in the ninth.

Yeah that was great, and Torre was just like “ok, just don’t hurt me man!”

It’s gonna be even tougher saying goodbye to players like Jeter, Posada, Rivera when the time comes. I can’t even imagine it, Pettitte and Mussina were tough enough!

what’s great is that it wasn’t even a no-hitter, I think it was actually just a shutout that he lost with 2 outs in the 9th. torre started coming out and he was like “STAY THERE!” love it. that was actually the last complete game he pitched in his career.

Yay!

He said it. Who doesn’t like Moose?

very underrated Yankee

Not in this thread, clearly, but generally. Mussina was arguably the best free-agent signing in Yankee history, and almost certainly the best pitcher they acquired via free agency (though CC will probably be up for that title in a few years, assuming he stays). I will say, though, that Andy Pettitte would’ve been a good choice, though I guess they’re having an Andy Pettitte Day some time this year, so I guess they’re going to let that be his big moment.

Great chioce

I love Mussina. I feel bad for him too. So close to so many accomplishments and he always seemed to fall an inch short. I’m glad he at least got 20 wins his last year.

i was going to make a joke about Moose bidding for a spot in the rotation but
1) it’s already been made
and
2) i would gladly take him over Colon, Garcia, Millwood and the rest of the 1999 Cy Young contenders
