I don’t think he’s in, he’s had the worst outings of all 4 applicants. I think it means he’s out, and it will be Colon and Nova.

Possibly

I just don’t want it to be Colon. I don’t think he’ll last, either. But if that’s the case, maybe we’ll get to see Warren, Brackman, or Betances by June…

I’m skeptical of Colon’s health too, but let’s be honest, he has looked surprisingly good this Spring. Fastball at 93 with big two seam action, and his control looks solid. The dude hasn’t been healthy in like six years, maybe he needed that year off to get healthy.

Beyond that, though, he will basically be our 5th starter, and we are only paying him 1M. If he just gives us .2 WAR, that’s a victory for us, considering we got -.3 total WAR from the fifth spot last year (and Nova was the only one in positive wins).

A few days ago someone from either ESPN or NESN (same thing) claimed that it was actually Kevin Russo who could jump on stuff. Right.

I can hardly believe that Meat has two more starts.

It’s got to be either Garcia or : for the 5 spot. Neither one makes me feel good. Hopefully one or the other will eat enough innings so that they can eventually call up Banuelos and let him go every 5 days.

The Yankees have gotten basically 0 WAR from the 5 spot in the rotation, and I don’t see Meat, Garcia, or : adding any.

If we’re truly looking for an innings eater, I think Colon has the biggest appetite.

in praise of a well-punctuated remark

frankly if what we’ve seen is a :, then i’ll be happy with a ; in the 5-slot…
