Fantasy Question - SS

This should probably be asked in a Fantasy forum somewhere, but I specifically want PA thoughts.  My first draft is Wednesday, so it's time for my annual research binge.  Yahoo has Jeter ranked #5 (in SS, not overall LOL).  #1 is Han Ram, followed by Tulowitzki, Reyes and Rollins.  I'm afraid of Reyes and Rollins spending more time off the field than on, so if I were to rely solely on the rankings, Jeter is it.  (Since Han Ram and Tulo are who they are and are ranked #2 and #4, respectively, overall, this question assumes that they gone.)

If all other options are still on the table, would you take Jeter or look further and maybe take Alexei or Elvis, or even take a shot with Starlin Castro or some other projected up-and-coming fantasy star SS?  Keep in mind that being a Yankee fan, ending up with a Yankee-heavy team is also a concern.  Thanks for all thoughts.

What is the scoring based on? If it is offensive heavy, Jeter would be a good choice.

Very Offense Heavy

It’s a somewhat strange league — I think it has 20 categories, and very offense heavy. After ready all of the comments, I think Jeter is the right choice — and lucky for me, I’m the only Yankee fan (with a few diehard Sux fans who go out of their way not to own any Yankees except for Arod, CC and Mo), so odds are he’ll be on the board for a little while.

Thanks for the help guys. I’ll let you know how the team ends up. Oh — if any of you are still looking for another manager who seriously pays attention for a fantasy league, I’m only on 3 so far and would love to get on another 1 or 2.

Yeah, even in his career worst year, Jeter was still a top 5 offensive SS in the league.

Depends on your lineup and scoring options. Is there a UTIL position? If you’re scoring on hits, OBP, BA then Jeter is a solid choice. But for HR, SB, xBH, SLG, Jeter isn’t a lock to finish far ahead of the pack.
I might opt to punt shortstop in exchange for another 20-20 outfielder, and settle for whomever drops into the late rounds- Tejada, Rentaria, etc.

I’d take Ramirez if you don’t want to go with Jeter.

I bet it's good to be playing again, huh?

Offense?

Jeter

Then it’s a toss up between Ramirez and Andrus.

Unless Jeter, Rollins, or Reyes are falling a round or two late, don't pick any of them

Take Andrus or Drew in the later rounds and spend those early rounds building up 2B, 3B (very weak this year) and the OF.
