really excited

About our yong pitchers mainly banuelos and betances. Both have looked very good thus far. I want to see them get a shot. Preferably betances because at 19 I don’t think banuelos is ready. But I think betances throwing that hard and as nasty as his knuckle curve looked can’t contribute this year, plus he has the make up demeaner/size of a true ace. I know its unlikely he’ll get a shot this year but wishful thinking.

Also, think it would be prett cool to see prior resurect his career here

Yeah, I don't buy it at all that Joba/Nova is all it takes.

But when I see stuff like Joba and Nova aren’t enough so “throw in Betances or Banuelos and Sanchez, maybe” or “Noesi, Banuelos or Betances…Gary Sanchez” I get irrational.

From what it seems

Most of them do not want them to trade him in the first place. And the ones that do really don’t thing either Joba or Ivan are enough, and on that I kinda agree with them, which is why I think the whole notion of this is BS.

"WHO WOULD LEAD?! THE CLOWN?!"

by I'mGivingYouARaise on Feb 28, 2011 6:50 PM EST up reply actions

I don't get that deal

I thought the Twins are thinking about trading Liriano because they have 5 other pitchers, and Liriano is about to start costing more because of arbitration. Well Joba and Nova are pitchers, and Joba is about to start getting more expensive, especially if the Twins do the right thing and move him to the rotation. Also, having both Nova and Joba would exacerbate the “too many pitchers” problem. A trade for Joba and Nova only makes sense if they intend to flip some pitchers for other needs. Frankly, a trade for one of the Killer Bs and other prospects makes more sense, since those guys are probably at least a couple of years from being full-time starters, by which time the Twins will probably be ready to trade one of their current guys (probably to the Yankees).

by long time listener on Feb 28, 2011 7:16 PM EST up reply actions

Question?

Your new Liriano deal for Nova/Joba or the deal for Haren turned down because of Joba last year? I’m just curious to what everyone would take. I have no idea which would be better since I can’t remember what was involved in the Haren deal.

If Killer B’s develop as advertised, I would be excited to see the future NYY SP rotation of Sabathia, Hughes, possibly 2 of 3 Killer B’s, and Nova. It would be foolish to trade away these kids for Liriano.

Yankees GM Brian Cashman told Wallace Matthews of ESPNNewYork.com that no matter what you’ve heard about Francisco Liriano or anyone else, the Yankees aren’t pursuing trades for starting pitching. Starters may be in demand, but the Yankees say the best pitchers aren’t on the trading block.
