Afternoon Yankees Links
Sorry about the lack of content today, folks. To make up for it, here's a few links to help you procrastinate.
- Lou Piniella is set to rejoin the Yankees. He won't be coaching, however. He'll be an analyst in the YES Network television booth. I think this is a really cool move.
- The Yankees have their doubts about Japanese phenom Yu Darvish (According to a source, one of the doubts is the size of the baseball, which I thought was changed this season to reflect the baseballs used in MLB. Correct me if I am mistaken, please.). They are expected to bid on him, but it is not expected that their bid will be enough to land the highly touted 25-year-old righty.
- The Yankees tendered contracts to all arbitration eligible players before last night's deadline, and hope to avoid the arbitration process with each of them. Meanwhile, Brian Cashman is continuing to negotiate with Hiroyuki Nakajima. Fangraphs recently took a look at the Yankees winning the negotiating rights to Nakajima.
- Jon Heyman reported that Andrew Brackman has signed on with the Reds.

Sweet Lou!
Still wouldn’t mind see him on the Yankee bench, though…
Just once I'd like someone to call me "Sir," without adding, "You're making a scene."
Lou was always my favorite player as a kid
So you can imagine how betrayed I felt when he went to Seattle and seemed to go out of his way to start brawls. Lou Pinella? I say “Boo” Pinella.
Also, I think you’re right about the baseballs in Japan, and I do remember reading somewhere that some scout thought that Darvish did fine with the new baseballs. Make of that what you will.

Frankie -
Any mention of someone leaving to make room for Lou, or is he just joining the crowd?

I like the move of Lou going to YES
he will be fun to watch as an analyst
Schotty go to the Dolphins
Sweet Lou in the booth is the best move of the off-season
even if the Yankees traded for Felix.
-Giants-I bELIeve in this team. Playoffs are in sight all they have to do is fight for it. Keep Baas on the sidelines.
-Rangers-I like to think back to when Thorton called the Rangers soft and LOL! The FAs the Rangers have gotten are nice but this team has built its strength from within.

Could see him getting pissed off at an ump's call and flipping Paul O'Neill's buffet table

Lou!
Sweet!
And I still hope that all these “leaks” about the Yankees not liking Darvish is just false information put out by the Yankees. If you’re going to offer a small sum of money, wouldn’t you at least try not to let everybody know?
I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious.

Here's hoping...
Lou kicks dirt on Michael Kay’s shoes at least once during the season.
