St. Louis Cardinals: 2011 World Series Champions
The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Texas Rangers tonight in World Series Game 7 by a score of 6-2. Chris Carpenter pitched a fantastic game and the offense created runs once again.
The Rangers lost in the World Series for the second consecutive year (the first team to do so since the 1991-'92 Atlanta Braves), which will make their off-season extremely interesting. Will C.J. Wilson stay or go? Will they make a lot of changes to shake things up, or keep things as they are, considering it brought them consecutive pennants?
Regardless of the off-season, tonight was spectacular and this series was spectacular. The Rangers were a strike away from winning the World Series twice, but failed to record that final strike both times. If Nelson Cruz fielded the fly-ball to rightfield in Game 6 correctly, the Texas Rangers would be World Series Champions.
David Freese is the series MVP.
Congratulations to the St. Louis Cardinals and their fans. What a series.
If you would like to congratulate the Cardinals fans, do so here. Do not troll the Rangers' site please.
It is now truly the off-season, folks.

Why would the Rangers want to avoid a three-peat?
Three AL pennants in a row would be a good thing, yes?
Congratulations to former Yankees Lance Berkman, Octavio Dotel & Jake Westbrook
Each of them just won their first ring

Harrison was awesome this year and Feldman was just a spot starter.
Harrison had a 3.39/3.52 ERA/FIP split and accrued 4.2 WAR while pitching half of his games in the most hitter friendly park in the AL. How is that not cutting it?
Approximately eight warnings, a couple dozen censorships, and one ban in the last month and counting.
No, but Fielder might.

From the Ledger:
Selig has indicated he plans to step down after the 2012 season. But he admitted he was aware of the public perception that he won’t fulfill that promise, and admitted "there isn’t a mechanism in place" to find his successor.

Sounds that way, doesn't it?
Owner’s would just want another lackey (but not John) to take his place, anyway.
So, I don't want to be Mr. Greedy, buuuuuuuuuuut....
I believe myself and four other individuals get a Yankee DVD prize? Specifically, the five individuals that got kinda close to guessing the number of pitches thrown in this World Series…?
Somewhere around 2,133 pitches thrown over the seven games! Wow. Everyone that made a guess in the prediction post at the beginning of the World Series was under that. Unreal.
What a blast. I have regularly thought that baseball was fading back farther and farther compared to other major sports, and a series (and postseason) like this renews your faith in one of the best sports ever. Too bad the off-season is excruciatingly painful.
Blind devotion.

Well, congrats to the Cards.
Now we can truly begin the Hot Stove banter.

Wish it was the Yankees, but congrats, Cards.
It’s amazing what a few blown saves can do in the playoffs! If Kimbrel saves game 162, the Cards aren’t in the post season. Same with Pappelbon (though alot of that can aslo be attributed to his drunk starters). Then the Rangers blow 2 saves in one game!
