New York Yankees News: Patience
Mood Music - Electric Feel by MGMT
A week ago, the Andy Pettitte saga was here, and since then, we've made it to about here. Does it seem to anyone else like we're going backwards? I'm still hopeful that Pettitte will lace 'em up one more time, but at this point, Brian Cashman should operate under the assumption that he will not.
While other pens (keyboards) will classify the Yankees off-season with "inactivity," my central theme would be "patience." A lot of waiting for not a lot of headlines. Thankfully, no headlines are better than bad headlines.
-If you haven't tired of my mocking of Bleacher Report and their screaming at the keyboard style of posts, they're off the wagon again.
-Derek Jeter's defense has been a subject of some intense debate here on Pinstripe Alley. There's an interesting post over at RAB comparing Jeter's overall production to defensive wizard, Omar Vizquel. The results are what I had expected: Jeter's bat has allowed him to be an extremely productive shortstop, and has easily compensated for any defensive liability.
-LoHud has a breakdown of the first basemen in the system. Jorge Vazquez interests me. I'd have to think that a .256 ISO and .526 SLG in 316 PA at AAA mean that Vazquez could be a nice power bat off of the bench (imagine a Mexican Shelley Duncan).

wow that BR article is hilarious
talk about a lack of perspective. Cashman has made plenty more bad moves that were not part of the 2010 season.
But if they didn’t have their heads jammed up their back ends they’d see that there are plenty great things Cashman has done over the years. Lets get a list of that to combat them!
Summary of BR’s argument: Cashman should be fired because people got injured.
Russell Martin is just like the Jewish Pharisees, trying to keep Jesus down.

Come back tomorrow at 11!

I'd rather not
(imagine a Mexican Shelley Duncan).
I see no reason to dislike a Mexican that much.
Galactus does as he pleases. Because Galactus is drunk.

Nice choice on the music.
Yes, well when I see five weirdo's dressed in togas stabbing a guy in the middle of the park in full view of a hundred people, I shoot the bastards, that's my policy.
Didn’t the Yankees trade their best pitching prospect to Atlanta in the
Arodys Vizcainbo in the Vazsquez trade?
at the time he was
this time last year (well, in December before we traded them) Vizcaino was our 3rd overall best prospect behind Montero and Jackson

Bleacher Report, for the last time, is practical joke that Valentine and JScape wite in their spare time.
There is no other explanation.
RAB’s Jeter/ Vizquel comparison would make me feel better if I had more (some) confidence in UZR, but the point is valid, I guess. Vizquel has always had a talent for playing the right way, and even though he’s not a great hitter, he always seems to advance runners, stay out of DPs, etc..
Spring Training starts in 5 weeks. (Hooray!). If Mr. Pettitte plans to show up, he needs to get himself in shape real soon, before they give his number away.
