Off-Season questions.
1. I don't see how people think Jeter will not be a Yankee. I don't see him in any other uniform and we got to pay him just for his services. Where do you see him?
2. Well seeing Burnett has been pretty bad can we will with 3 more years of bad pitching by Burnett? Is there a way to dump off that contract? I don't know, but I hope he turns it around.
3. Carl Crawford or Cliff Lee? I say if we can get Lee do it. I see no reason to get Crawford, unless we completely believe Swisher is our DH. That'd OF might cover the most ground ever too.
4. Is Posada going to remain a Yankee? Is Jesus Montero coming up next season?
5. Are you okay with a rotation of CC, Hughes, Andy, Mosely, and AJ in 2010 if the Yankees don't get Cliff Lee?

1. Hes not going anywhere
2. Hes not going anywhere
3. Neither
4. Posada isnt going anywhere. Montero will be called up sometime during the season
5. It would probably be Nova not Moseley
1. I think he will take his talents to the south beach…or sign with the Yankees. More likely the second, unless the Heat need a point guard.
2. Called this from the beginning, it was a pretty awful contract from the start even if he pitched at his usual talent level. Gotta live with the deal and hope he gets better.
3. Lee, Crawford isn’ needed at all.
4. Yes, yes, can’t figure out the Yankees though, so not sure when Montero will come up.
5. Not sure why everyone is assuming Pettitte will return, especially after getting injured this year.

1) No chance he leaves
2) No chance he leaves
3) Absolutely not to both
4) Posada remains a Yankee at least for 2011. Jesus Montero gets called up after June 1st next year.
5) No, but I’m ok with a rotation of CC, AJ, Phil, and a combination of Andy, Joba, Nova, or possibly a cheaper free agent or guy from AAA.

We NEED to sign Cliff Lee…. what kind of off-season would it be like in New York if the Yankees don’t spend at least $150 million ?

1) New York Yankees
2) New York Yankees
3) I think we’ll sign Lee..not saying I’d do it but I think we will
4) Posada probably starts making transition to full time DH…in the Bronx
5. I see
Andy returns:
CC, Phil, Andy, AJ, Nova
Andy retires:
CC, Lee, Phil, AJ, Nova, Joba/Free Agent
Dunno if they pursue Lee…part of me also thinks that they still want Joba starting
Hello everyone, my name is Curtis Granderson, and I'm a bus-o-holic
A supporter of the MFY.
my thoughts
1. He’ll be back, going to need more DH days..
2. AJ to stay.. When he’s on; he’s on! No one will pick him up if we dump him anyways.. That talk shouldn’t be brought up until his final season in pinstripes under contract.
3. Crawford = No. Lee = Yes/Maybe… i would say its a 75% chance Lee will play in New York next season.
4. Posada certainly needs less days behind the plate, but his bat needs to stay in the lineup.. He will be sharing that DH spot with Jeter more often.. Montero have his first MLB AB in the 2011 season, without a doubt… if all goes well, expect him to be including in September call ups.
5. Are you kidding that Rotation is strong.. adding Lee is borderline disgusting..(I love it) Let’s not forget about Nova who thus far has proved himself and deserves a shot in the rotation next season, ahead of Mosely… Andy is questionable… I hope he returns but I really believe it depends on the end result of the 2010 season..
If Andy stays, Lee is wanted.
If Andy’s gone, Lee is needed.
Absolutely correct

1. He’s a Yankee.
2. He’s a Yankee.
3. Lee if the money makes sense, otherwise neither, unless Andy retires.
4. Yes to both.
5. CC, AJ, Hughes, Nova/Joba, Andy if he returns.

It’s way too premature to begin discussing the offseason. There’s a little less than a month of full regular season baseball left and then the post-season right after. There are more significant issues that the Yankees face right now.

I believe the team is much too invested in the outcome of 2010 to even think about the moves in 2011.

1. Jeter’s gonna sign with the Pirates
2. Let’s trade him to the Marlins for Wes Helms and seafood
3. Neither….Melvin Mora….oh yeah!
4. Posada’s going to retire from baseball and join the Yakuzas
5. 2011’s roatation: CHOP, Mose, TEH PUTZ, CC, Cy Young’s corpse
Barndon's Worst Enemy
I think you're forgetting the biggest question here
which is when will Kei Igawa’s number be retired at Scranton? He’s a shoo-in SWB HoF’er and if not for the wasted time he spent in the bigs, he could’ve had well over 35 wins for them.
1. Jeter is staying with us, but his off season is making it harder to offer him more money.
2. Burnett is not going anywhere.
3. Neither. We dont need wither of them. We have good pitching and we have outfielders.
4. Posada will be a Yankee until his contract is up. Montero will get called up sometime next season.
5. Nova instead of Moseley.
They didn't let me out, they just gave me a day pass.
for number 3 i wrote wither.
that was supposed to say neither.
They didn't let me out, they just gave me a day pass.
1. Jeter is staying, no chance he leaves. I probably won’t agree with the 20+ million dollar deal he’s going to get, but there isn’t any chance he leaves
2. Burnett isn’t going anywhere either. Nobody else is going to take his contract. I hope he turns it around too.
3. Cliff Lee- stay away from Crawford. But go as hard as they can for Lee
4. Yes, he’ll be a Yankee. I expect Jesus to be on the opening day roster next year, in sort of a platoon role with Jorge. One catches, the other DHs. This gives Montero MLB catching experience without throwing him out there 140 games right away. It keeps Posada happy cuz he’s catching, and healthy because he’s not catching as many games.
5. No, but I’m fine with CC, A.J., Andy, Hughes, and Chamberlain/Nova. Or if Andy retires, I’m also fine with CC, A.J., Hughes, Joba, and Nova.
I hate all Boston sports teams
When will the Yankee front offic elearn that throwing tens of millions of dollars and long term contracts for aging pitchers is a recipe for disaster?
I don’t expect the fans to ever learn that lesson, but the front office should gotten it by now.
As much as I love Jeter, he’s not one of the ten best hitters on the team right now. He’s the best shortstop, but ask yourself this- If I was the GM of one of the 29 other teams, would I make him a free agent offer? And if so, how much for how long? …. That’s what I thought you’d say.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Montero made the team out of spring training next year, or if he was the first call-up when someone went on the DL. I also wouldn’t be shocked if they left him in Scranton until September.
I think Burnett would be hard to get rid of, even if you wanted to do so. You would have to pay half his salary to whomever you dealt him to, since no contender would want him, it would have to be a small market team willing to take a chance on him. I think it;s more likely that the team spends the winter trying to straighten out his head.
A rotation with Nova, Hughes, and even Chamberlain in it doesn’t bother me- at least it’s young guys getting better, not old guys taped together

Cliff Lee is pretty much a given
The Yankees already tipped their hand on this one. They agreed to a trade that would have sent away the best prospect they’ve had in years for Cliff Lee. They would not have done that if they didn’t intend to sign Cliff Lee. I don’t think one injury and a couple of mediocre months in Texas are going to change their mind. They may not have to pay Cliff Lee the $23 mil a year over 6 years now that I think everyone envisioned, but I’d be shocked if they suddenly decide not to go after him, especially since there are no other high end starters on the market. Everything you hear about Lee also suggests he’s after money and money alone. It would be a huge upset if the Yankees aren’t the high bidder.
Whether it’s a smart move or not is another question. Hopefully they don’t go 6 years for him. Maybe they can even get it done for 4 if he doesn’t turn things around in Texas. I’d say 5 is more likely though.
Does it have the potential to be a bad contract? Yes.
Are they going to do it anyway? Yes.
Is the thought of a C.C./Lee led rotation in 2011 an appealing one? Yes.
Does a healthy and effective Lee give the Yankees leverage when C.C. opts out after next year? Yes.

Wasn't that way in the early 2000's when I chose them.
yankees were good
cowboys sucked
heat sucked
yankees signed 3 players worth over 400 gagillion
cowboys got romo, witten, ware, and parcells to change our team
heat drafted wade and signed lebron and bosh.
not. my. fault.

I don't like it when...
people (especially on the internet) try to make me feel like a bandwagoner. Because really I’m not. I witnessed two championships thats all. I didn’t see the combined 7 Championships between the Cowboys and Yankees in the 90’s.
"I'm not busy because I did it right the first time"
who cares
They’re people on the internet. Can being called a bandwagoner hamper your enjoyment to enjoy your team winning? Why do you care if others call you a wagoner?

They probably want a rise out of me. Not going to happen. Cowboys sure did a number on my already painful monday.

1. Obviously Jeter is a Yankee, unless he retired. but i doubt that.
2. Burnett will probably be in NY.
3. Cliff Lee. No Carl Crawford.
4. Posada will finish out his contract. Montero will hopefully be the backup catcher/DH
5. I’d like to see Lee in pinstripes. CC, Lee, Hughes, Burnett, Nova.
