Yes- we’d have to dominate some of the upcoming tough matchups with the Red Sox, Rays and Jays, but it’s a distinct possibility.

There is no reason to have this much trouble hitting Baltimore’s pitching. Mediocre outings by AJ, and even the occasional bad outing by CC, are going to happen. But freaking Brad Bergesen, with his 5.40 ERA, is holding us to 1 run and 3 hits! Unbelievable.

Gotta say that Ivan Nova’s really been getting the job done, though—giving us quality starts. Even that last inning wasn’t as bad as it could have been…we can still win this game easily, if the offense finally comes around.

I’d just rather him stay in AAA and develop more, than try and risk it now when we have players who have shown they can hit.

Do you really think this is something that we haven’t considered before? Don’t condescend.
What are the possible benefits of calling up Montero? He comes in, and might just be slightly better than one of other bench players, and just maybe over the course of the remaining ~20 games we pick up a few marginal runs.
Or, you pull him away from a situation in which he’s currently dominating, he comes up, struggles, and you hear that he “can’t handle the heat of a playoff run in NY” over his first few at bats.
There is just about nothing to be gained, he isn’t on the 40 man so we’d have to DFA someone, and he won’t be eligable for the playoffs. The negatives far outweigh the potential for maybe a tiny upgrade off of the bench.
It’s not a good idea, and any chance of it happening vanished when September 1st passed, now stop trying to come here and talk like you know better than we do.
And maybe you should watch Lance Berkman a little more closely, because you really don’t know what you’re talking about.
