Brandon Laird named Eastern League MVP
The 22-year old third-baseman also won the Rookie of the Year with a .291/.355/.523 line. He was promoted to Scranton a month ago but has struggled so far.

I want to develop a man-crush on Laird
I’ve been beating this drum for a while, but I think what the Yankees are going to need starting in 2012 (though possibly as early as next year) is a super-utility guy – think Chone Figgins back when he was good. We’re going to have a third baseman and shortstop who are over 36, so we’ll need someone who can play those two positions, as well as the occasional game at second, and possibly a game in the outfield here and there. Oh, and this guy is going to have to hit – much better than Ramiro Pena, obviously, and better than replacement level, at least. Is Laird that guy? We can dream, can’t we?

Wow
So we’ve got the MVP in the Flordia State League (Mesa), the Eastern League (Laird), and the International League (Jesus). And with a good September, Robbie could take it in MLB, which would give us MVPs at the four highest levels. That’s amazing.

i dont think
Jesus has been named the IL MVP (at least not yet). he’s an All Star and Scranton’s MVP, but not MVP of the IL.
