Don't think he'll last long

Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think he’ll be a good manager. I give him three years

This is the sentiment of many over on our Dodgers blog.

Most were pulling for our AAA manager Wallach to be made manager and for a complete coaching overhaul to take place.

Yeah, I’m not sure why, but I just don’t see it. Some guys you can just tell will make good managers, even when they were still players. Some here will yell at me for this, lol, but I always thought Girardi would be a good manager, and I can’t argue with his results so far. When he would talk after games as a player, you could just see how much he understood the game, and how intelligent he was. He showed what he could do in Florida, which was why I wanted the Yankees to choose him over Mattingly when they were looking for a replacement.

Who knows, though. Maybe I’m wrong and he’ll end up being great. I guess time will tell.

Donnie Baseball

This is awesome for Mattingly. Far less pressure for him to coach in LA, he won’t have the stress of managing in a city where is an icon. It will be even better if/when the owner sells the team to pay for his divorce. Congrat’s to him, he definitely deserves the chance.

LOL

Remember when he stepped on and off the mound twice? Sigh…..

I guess it is good for Mattingly that he'll get a chance to manage a

big league club, but the Dodgers have ownership problems that will prevent them from making any moves for at least the next couple of years. This team is going to be bad no matter who the manager is so hopefully it won’t hurt him in the search for another job when this one ultimately ends in failure.

Chances are it will go like pretty much eberything else he’s ever done: he’ll be okay at first, work very hard at becoming better, and ultimately become a very good manager. The big question is: will ownership give him enough time to get there?
