Monday Morning Links: Greinke Cy Choice, Patterson's Illegal Choice, Yankees' Oppenheimer Choice
-Zach Greinke would not commit to one player over the other (CC or Felix) when questioned about who should win the Cy Young. He did make some interesting arguments, however.
-Governor David Patterson apparently acquired 2009 World Series tickets illegally.
-The Yankees denied the Diamondbacks permission to interview Damon Oppenheimer for their GM job.
-Mike Vaccaro believes that the next 20 games will show what the Yankees are made of.
-The Scranton Yankees were eliminated from the postseason Saturday, hence the Kevin Russo and Juan Miranda call-ups. While I'd like to see the Yankees find a way to get Royce Ring on the active roster (he doesn't have a 40 man spot) it doesn't seem likely as of now.
-Speaking of AAA, the Yankees intend to stay in Scranton.

I really hope the Yankees don't intend to stay in Scranton
And since the link leads to the newspaper’s home page, I hope you meant Jesus?
I wholeheartedly agree with the Vaccaro article. We’re facing tough teams at the end of the season, but this could be a blessing in disguise. We’ll be facing (on average) better pitching and hitting, and that 34-35 (as of now) record against winning teams goes pretty much perfectly with the “play .500 against the contenders and win series from the non-contenders” axiom.

Haha, nothing at all
I just thought it was a typo about Montero staying there, even though the playoffs had ended! (the link didn’t lead me to the intended page, either)

I really enjoyed Scranton when I lived there. If I’d been making a decent wage I would never have left.

Tampa
Long time reader, first time poster.
I live south of Tampa. There was a story about the Yankees’ A team moving to Orlando. That would leave the Tampa facility (Steinbrenner Field) basically empty except for spring training. Steinbrenner Field is a wonderful facility. Seems like a logical fit to move the AAA team to Tampa if the A team moves to Orlando.
There have been no rumors of this happening but it seems logical should the Yanks decide to leave Scranton.
It might be too small for a AAA team
If they added left field grandstands then maybe. It also helps to have the AAA team within a stones throw of the big club.

not happening
tampa area already has a major league team, an tampa would be way too far south for the rest of the teams in the international league to travel to.
Let's hope the next 20 games don't break the Yankees
Andy comes back on Sunday to rejuvenate this rotation that badly needs it. A.J. or Phil needs to step up their game and prove themselves.

I thought Greinke's comment on the Cy would simply be "I don't know, but not me."
When even John Sterling, who can’t tell a home run from an infiled fly realizes that you just went a whole series with only only one hit in a RISP situation, things are bad.
On the other hand, Burnett looked a bit less awful, and Dustin Moseley did everything the Yankees could have reasonably expected. The Yankes have several capable starters should they make the playoffs, but right now Hughes and Vazquez would not be among them.
