Curious

strictly defensively, who is better in CF? Gardner or Granderson? I keep thinking Gardner and Granderson should swap positions.

probably cuz grandy cant play lf

Ummm

How can you NOT play LF if you are a CF’er?

forget that

according to baseball reference grandy has only played 22 games as a lf in his career.

You do realize

That if you can play CF you can play the corner spots right?

by HappyLuckyGoldenDragonNumber1! on Aug 9, 2010 1:04 PM EDT up reply actions

Ok

In all seriousness, why do you like Granderson better in CF? Better range, arm, angle? It seems to me Gardner is better in almost every aspect of CF.

by HappyLuckyGoldenDragonNumber1! on Aug 9, 2010 1:00 PM EDT up reply actions

range they're about the same

arm and angle goes to Grandy too.

Actually, I think both wouldn’t be good for LF. Gardner doesn’t play balls off the wall well, and Grandy probably doesn’t either since he’s not used to it.

Gardner’s got more experience in LF, so that’s why where they’re at is better.

Grandy’s better in CF then Gardner. Gardner’s better in LF then Grandy.

by FreeBradshaw on Aug 9, 2010 1:02 PM EDT up reply actions

Not sure I agree about his arm being better. I think Gardner's range is superior.

Nothing Granderson has done in CF has shown me that he has a better arm than Gardner. As for angles, you are probably right and to me that is just experience. It’s not really a gripe of mine since it works out pretty well as is. As for playing the wall, I think Gardner’s play last night off the wall was fantastic, perfect angle and perfect throw almost getting Beltre at second. So Gardner may be just as good at CF if not slightly better but I might agree that Gardner probably plays a better LF, though we really haven’t seen Granderson in left enough to prove that.

by HappyLuckyGoldenDragonNumber1! on Aug 9, 2010 1:09 PM EDT up reply actions

ratings but gardner's arm as below avg and Grandy's arm as above avg

tbh really doesn’t matter who plays CF since they both are well above avg defenders. THis year Grandy has had better range in his time in CF then gardner but that is a smaller sample size. While Gardner hs been a monster defender in LF…so why change that?

Cool, it'll be interesting to see what Kelly does with the Irish

Weis failed to make his own recruits into spectacular teams.. but took Willingham’s and turned them into contenders. Maybe Kelly will do the same thing.

I’d like to see Kelly make Weis’ into contenders, but I hope he can actually do that with HIS guys.

We'll see

I’ve been a ND fan for about 10 years now… it’s been a roller coaster ride. I’m going to Penn State next year though so ND will have to take a backseat to PSU. I hope ND beats USC so badly because I can’t stand it anymore.
