Slow Clap For Marcus Thames
"I'm just getting a chance to get in there more often, I was telling the guys, every year I go through one of these things....It feels good, especially since we're winning ballgames".........
-Marcus Thames, after yesterday's 11-5 victory
Wsup PA, have not been able to visit as mush this season, but I miss it! (working at night sucks) Dedication to the stripes withstanding, I wanted to give a slow clap to Marcus Thames. If a guy in a fill-in role can hit six bombs in five starts, in a deadlocked division race, while the team is winning, I'm all for it.
Not to mention, a team who has scored 81 runs in their last 9 wins, and gotten 10 runs or more 5 times. All without a guy who makes the offense go, and a heck of a cleanup presence. So cheers to a successful September/October, and cheers to a role player stepping up to the challenge!! GO YANKEES!!!!

I'd like to take a gander at those early season threads where there were tons
of questiosn like “Why Marcus Thames? He can’t hit or field, why is he making the team”?
At least those that are on that list would get some more data to put in the “crystal ball is broken” bank.
Does this mean a “Dear (Underperforming Yankee)” post is coming? Those always lead to an immediate turnaround by said underperforming Yankee, so, I, for one, wouldn’t mind seeing a “Dear A.J. Burnett” pop up pretty soon.

Marcus Thames has been
so freaking unbelievable as of late. he deserves to be in the lineup.
They didn't let me out, they just gave me a day pass.
I’m only fairly confident on the division. The Rays have an easier schedule from here on out, so I could see splitting our 6 head-to-head games, then the Rays winning the division while they’re playing KC and we’re in Boston.

That's how I see it
No telling what kind of season this could have been had A-Rod been healthy all season; had Jeter had an average 15/75/.320; had Tex gotten hot even sooner; had Pettitte not gotten injured and continued having a career year; and had Javy and AJ had a bit better season. Cross that very fine line and this could have been one of those 110 win seasons.
yup
I had a post early on in the year about the Yankees chances about breaking Seattle’s win record. It just shows it’s a very fine line. Everything needs to go right. When they don’t, you have no chance.
I’m just hoping things go right enough for the Yanks to edge out Tampa Bay and take the Division.
I hate all Boston sports teams
who knows
when
A.J. Burnett
Javier Vazquez
Alex Rodriguez
Derek Jeter
Curtis Granderson
all have down seasons and
Alfredo Aceves
Alex Rodriguez
Jorge Posada
Curtis Granderson
Nick Johnson
Andy Pettitte
(probably missed some)
all spend significant time on the DL it’s a kinda amazing to think how good we coulda been…oh well, no use bitching about it, injuries and down seasons happen, we’re still tied for 1st and have a high shot of at least making the playoffs

Pfff
All this hitting and running around the bases will only mean players will tire and fizzle out down the stretch. Save some of that excessive run-scoring for the postseason.

Slow clap? What's that?
Is it treated with slow penicillin? Is it half-assed applause? How about regular, full speed applause for a guy who rotted on the bench without complaining for 4 months and then raked when called on?
Don’t worry about strength of remaining schedule. Worry about how you’re playing. I’ve seen too many good teams get smoked by supposed victims who are 20 games under .500, and good teams take divisions by clobbering supposedly tough opposition from teams needing to win.

Amazing what you can find on YouTube…

I watched 56 seconds of it and I got the idea. I think I waste too much time reading books.

Yeah, I hear you. It’s one of those odd descriptors that make a lot of sense once you slow down and think about it, but it really leaves me wondering, is this something we had to give a name to?
