Yankee Namesakes
A recent article on Big League Stew asked the question how many readers are "1) named after famous ballplayers or 2) have kids who are named — or will be named — after them"
I thought it would be cool to hear from everyone here on the same subject. How many folks here are either named after a Yankee, or have named one of their children after a Yankee?
In my case, my daughter Marianna is named in honor of Mariano Rivera.

I am named after a movie actor,a ccording to my father, and one of my children is named after the author of "Dracula."
There are no “Jobas”, “Yunieskys,” or “CCs” in my family.

I think..
It was in reference to Kerry Wood? Then it’s still not funny but at least has some credence.
Let's cut through the crap, Vaughn. I only got one thing to say to you: "Strike this mother f*cker out."
Oh, I know...
read some of the game threads where Wood was brought into the game. I admit some guilt in killing the jokes, but they are over the top

My dog is named Yogi.
My girlfriend likes Jeter as a first name for a kid, but even I don’t know about that one.

if your girlfriend is giving you the opportunity to name your child Jeter, take it.

I’m pretty sure I’m named for Johnny Blanchard. Just a hunch.

Oh funny story I forgot to mention
My parents had the name Matt picked out for me, if I was going to be a boy, for a while. But 2 days before my birth Matt Nokes hit a 2-run go ahead HR, as the Yankees beat Boston. Ever since then its been a family joke that I was named after him.
