Royals 4, Yankees 3 - Rain Delays Are Spectacular
This one just wasn't meant to be. I have to think that 2 hour, 9 minute rain delays can interrupt the flow of the game just a bit.
The Yankees bullpen came back from the "recess" to pick up some of the slack for Dustin Moseley (he put up a less than stellar 4.1 innings, 4 earned runs) by not allowing any baserunners once play resumed. Unfortunately, the Royals bullpen was nearly effective, allow just 3 hits and a walk, so no runs were scored by anybody in the final 4+ innings of the game.
Play Of The Game: for the Yankees, it was Lance Berkman's 3rd inning double; for the Royals, it was Yuniesky Betancourt's 2nd inning double.
Quote Of The Game: goes to long time listener's comment in response to Chad Gaudin and George Bush/Al Gore:
I hope Chad doesn’t leave one hanging.

Who was it that said they would put Moseley as the #3 starter ahead of Burnett and Javy?

I wasn’t the one who said that, but its ONE GAME!

How many did he pitch before that? 3?
Just a lesson to not jump the gun… ok?

If someone has 3 games and 1 bad, that’s pretty solid.

Judging a pitcher on 4 games that he's pitched is foolish
He’s been inconsistent.. but when he’s good he has provided enough for a victory.

Glad I didn't stay up for this one.
I figured we’d be able to tag KC’s pen for a couple runs. Oh well.
Team OPS is sub-700 for August so far, 100 points below the season average. Looking forward to a mighty correction.

I figured I wasn't the only one who just went to sleep during the rain delay
I had work early this morning and I gave up around the time Texas-Boston ended.

I sucks we lost
but take comfort in the fact that we lost absolutely no ground between us and the Rays/Red Sox. All it did was cross another game off the schedule for those teams to come back.
Plus, on the bright side, the bullpen was great.
There's not much more that I love than watching baseball
But last night turned out to be a waste of time
Haha I know what he means though
Those games always seem like a waste after waiting so long just to see nothing else happen

Not to me.
Even if we lose 18-2 I will still enjoy watching, no matter how frustrating.

I'll never leave a game early if the Yankees are getting destroyed or turn the TV off
But they’re still painful to watch

This.
I love watching the Yankees and I never turn the game off, but if they are getting it handed to them I do just zone out, because it’s hard to watch.
