Plus, the Yankees were worried about giving up significant prospects and not being sure about Dunn as a DH. Dunn has spent his entire career in the NL, so he has never DH'ed regularly and has said repeatedly he does not want to be exclusively a DH. That combination made the Yankees wonder if he would adapt to the job, especially when you add on a new league, a new city, and a level of expectation Dunn has never experienced with the Reds, Diamondbacks or Nationasl.
Yankees are done pursuing Dunn
I think that's fine. I want a pitcher, either starter or reliever.

This is good news to me...
We can Win without Will Ferrel Batting behind Cano
Statistics are like a girl in a bikini. They show a lot, but not everything.
That means Dunn will probably be starting for the Yanks on Friday,
given how reliable these reports from “sources” have been this year.
Good, getting another hitter is not a priority right now
Unrelated, but the O’s are sending Tejada to the Padres.

Brandon Tierney just talked about Yanks might be able to bring Matsui back on the cheap
I wouldnt be against giving up a few nobodys for Matsui to come back as a DH.
That would sweet.
Who are these “nobodys”, though?

I meant if it was for Single or Double A ball guys that arent top spects
Kind of mean to call them nobodies, I guess, lol.
I think Brandon T is full of crap
if Brandon C said it, I might believe it

I’d take Damon back before Matsui. Tigs are toast, so is Matsui.
Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.

I agree but who knows if either is available
Will Cashman bring one of them back though? For the right price, I would hope so.
Not knowing how badly hurt Marte is, I’d be looking to poach Fuentes from the Angels. Only as a LOOGY tho. Never vs LHP. He’s killed lefties in his career .214/.302/.310, and done a number on them this year, 133/.188/.133 0 HR. We could prob eat the rest of his salary, send them a middling prospect, and he’s a solid Type B so we could grab a compensation pick in the 2011 draft.
Again, only as a Loogy tho.

Oops, first line should have said, never vs RHP

Pretty sure you mean RHB, unless he’s got a sweet power stroke against lefty pitching :P

angels
the angels are buyers, not sellers….and they sure as heck wouldn’t trade anyone to the yankees.
They declared themselves sellers yesterday.

According to news this morning
The White Sox are out of the running for Dunn and it’s between the Yankees and the Rays right now and most likely will be until hours before the official deadline.

I really hope the Yanks are officially out of the running too.
Now that Capps is gone from the Nats, I don’t see a need to go all out for Dunn.

Yankees basically missed on all possible ends
I don’t see them making any moves… sort of unusual but whatever

nah they'll do something
I guarantee it. May not be a huge move. It may be like last year when they got Hairston. Not a huge move, but Hairston did a great job and had a pretty significant impact on the team the last half of the year. I see something similar this year. A bench player or a reliever.
"I'll do whatever it takes to win games, whether it's sitting on a bench waving a towel, handing a cup of water to a teammate, or hitting the game-winning shot"-Kobe Bryant
well who would be traded for him?
Not Montero or Romine I hope. Or Joba.

I have no idea...
Seems that someone like Betences, ManBan or Noesi would be bound to the deal…which I don’t like.
I’d give up McCallister and Nova I guess…but I dunno. I’d rather just scrap it. Dunn would be a great add to the lineup I guess…maybe it puts us over the top. Or are we already over the top?
I’d rather they just trade for Ty Wigginton and that’s it.
