no worries
we’re in great shape
nothing out there worth the pricetag
I agree that not much is worth the pricetag
But to say the Yankees are playing up to their potential would be ludicrous

The pieces the Yanks would give up for anyone would be too much. It’s always one price for everyone and then another for the Yankees. Screw that.
The Yanks have options in the minors but just don’t aren’t using them.

I would love Downs
But I would rather go after Josh Willingham out of Washington. He wouldn’t demand a ton of prospects and a top tier prospect like a Montero. Right handed bat and plays the outfield positions.

Not a bad idea, but it's not going to happen
Willingham is popular in Washington and under team control for another year. They’re listening to offers but seem to have no real urgency to move him – which means the price is likely to be higher than the Yankees would be interested in paying.
yeah they actually might have an outside shot to contend next year
might as well keep their good 5 hole hitter
Section 203 Row 15 Seat 1
they won't trade him unless Cashman wows them
They’re much improved this year and with Strasburg and Harper look to have a bright future. They probably won’t be looking to sell too much at the deadline.

The order should be bullpen, bench, starting pitching
Yankees have plenty of starting pitching and really don’t need any help there. Bullpen has struggled mightily at times and really needs another solid reliever. The bench could also use a more solid backup infielder than Ramiro Pena (although I like the kid). Cervelli obviously is a terrific backup catcher that needs to be on the roster and I’m beginning to warmup to Marcus Thames a little (I thought he’d be traded by the deadline about 2 months ago).

I’m not concerned about the bullpen because most likely the Yanks will move Hughes to the bullpen in the playoffs assuming Javy keeps pithcing well. Robertson has regained form and Marte was good before getting hurt. Once Joba and Ho are straightened out, we should be fine. Mitre sucks so lets go get a starting pitcher. Our bench is fine too with guys like Pena, Curtis, Russo, and Huffman
Bullpen help.
We don’t need any starting pitching. Pettitte will be back in a couple weeks. Our bench will be fine with a good bat. Our main need is bullpen. Besides Rivera and maybe Robertson and Logan, the bullpen sucks. You have Joba (who i think is goddamn overrated.), Chan Ho Park (this guy can’t get through a couple innings without giving up some runs.), and Gaudin ( who was great last season but just looks lost this year. His K’s are great but he giving up oo many hits and walks.). Marte is on the DL. Basically, our bullpen is probably in the 20-25 rank in the whole MLB.

Eric Soderholm ...
Good bat off the bench. Has some speed and can play multiple positions. He’d be my pick unless of course Mickey Kluttz is available.
