Some thoughts on first Visit to Citi Field

Went to Citi Field for the first time today.

I went with my nephews by marriage who are big time Mets fans. The stadium has some good points and some not so good points. For the good: The place is clean and there are friendly staff to help out in a way similar to the new Yankee Stadium. The concourses are much wider than at Shea and it's easier to get around. The rotunda is very nice, but as my nephew pointed out there is not a lot of Mets feel to the place. He was of the opinion that they still neglect the Mets history as well as the Giants portion of the Mets history and history of a NL franchise in New York City.

We sat in the upper deck in left field and people there cannot see about 1/4 of the outfield. The line was too long for this ole boy at Shake Shack, so I went to Blue Smoke which features pulled pork BBQ, which is right up the old redneck's alley. The sandwich was good, but overpriced at $10.00. Pork sandwich and a Bud light set me back $17.50. Food at the park, just like at NYS, is waaaay overpriced.

As for the game, Braves won 4-0. Had Atlanta taken advantage of so many scoring opportunities it would have been more like 10-0. Pelfrey for sure did not look like an all-star. Angel Pagan had 3 of the 4 Mets hits for the game. Reyes reinjured himself making a throw from the hole. So all in all it was not a good day for the Mets.
