Excellent

That was a really well-done video.

I love the NYTimes videos. I think a lot of what they do on the website redefines the newspaper business. I just hope they don’t go to a paywall system- I like to get it for free!

I used to work for them for 3 years...

from 2003-2006, they were thinking about a subscription payment plan for their online, but shelfed it…it might come to that for tablet based implementation of things…but for now their advertisement rakes in $$$ for them…

I haven’t read it yet, but it’s on my list.

Sick ...

I faced Goose Gossage at a camp when I was a kid, and he plunked me … (But that ’s another story). I would pay money to face Rivera and actually witness the fiendish movement that will one day lead him to the Hall.

Totally agree

If I could face one pitcher in all of baseball right now, I’d choose Rivera.
If you’re going to be made to look foolish, it might as well be by a HOFer.

That video was amazing

I appreciate Mariano more and more every day. He’s also full of class. Yesterday after the game I leaned over the bullpen and saw Joba and Rivera and Logan walking back toward the field. I screamed to Mariano and he turned and gave me a little wave and head nod. Maybe he just felt bad that I watched the Yankees get totally dominated by Felix. Still, a classy gesture.

MO'S CUTTER

WHAT’S SO AMAZING ABOUT THE CUTTER IS THAT HE HAS THROWN IT FOR HIS WHOLE CAREER AND THEY STILL CAN’T HIT IT. OK, HE DOES CENTER ONE OCCASSIONALLY AND IT GETS TAGGED BUT THAT’S ALL HITTERS LUCK (SWINGING IN A ZONE AND GETTING LUCKY CONTACT). BUT ON THE WHOLE, 99% OF THE TIME, THE BEST A HITTER CAN DO IS FOUL IT OFF AND HOPE FOR A" WORSE" PITCH TO FOLLOW—LIKE HELL—LOL. MARIANO IS THE BEST EVEN THOUGH HOFFMAN HAS MORE SAVES RIGHT NOW, BUT AT THE END OF HIS RUN—HE WILL BE THE ALL-TIME SAVES LEADER AND HAS MORE 2 INNING SAVES THAN ANY OTHER RELEIVER !!

Good video

although the moderator was not accurate saying he “throws almost no fastballs to lefties”, a cutter IS a fastball, as he points out, it’s not a slider.

Not what he said

and didn’t mention his 2 seamers against righthanders, which he throws with more frequently now as he’s gotten older & wiser.
