Yankees 4, Orioles 2: CC now 13-1 vs. O's
For as bad as the Orioles have been this season, they seem to have played a lot of close games against the Yankees.
Tonight's game was no exception to that, as the Yankees rode (mostly) good pitching from CC Sabathia and scored a misleadingly low numbers of runs considering they actually had 10 hits and 5 walks. Fortunately, the Orioles were just as inept in that department, only managing to score twice despite 13 baserunners.
Play of the Game: Who else would you expect? Robinson Cano's 6th inning game-tying single increased the Yankees chances of winning by over 13%.
Quote of the Game: In a thread about CC's size and appetite, Jedi Master A-Rod said:
Now I’m going to have the image of CC as the Lard Lad doughnut boy from The Simpsons stuck in my head

And is that Brandon, Travis, or Ed in the background?
Actually, that’s kuri in the background.
What sucks is I have to get a new laptop every time I hit the enter button with my banhammer.
"Have faith in the Yankees, my son. Think of the great DiMaggio."
also got to love the fact
that Boston was 2 hit by a former prospect that they traded to Cleveland for V-Mart (I believe).
Good day for the Yankees (and any Boston-haters).
And Cano! That guy can hit, huh? I heard he might win a batting title one day. Dunno if that’s gonna happen. /sarcasm

How great is it that our best pitchers can have bad games and they allow 3 and 2 ER, respectively.

A little comforting.
As long as the offense picks them up, they can afford to be less than stellar every now and then.

It’s all the same crap anyways. Did they put your garbage in the wrong shape? Hate it when that happens.
Did you go through the drive thru? Because that’s always risky biz with the type of IQs that tend to work at Taco Bell (no offense if any T. Bell workers are lurking)
Weak man. There was a Taco Bell right across the street from where I lived this past semester, and they made so much money off of drunk people (who would overpay, not notice when stuff was missing, etc.).
This Taco Bell just opened like 2 weeks ago
The one up the road always sucked, figured this one is new and closer, why not? Can they ever get it right ? Just once??

Joba is wasted in the pen
Guy has a lot of pitches, he doesnt want to be there either. Setup guys dont make the $$ that SPs do. Dont think that doesnt screw with Joba’s psyche.
by YankeesJets on Jun 10, 2010 12:49 AM EDT up reply actions
but remember, the way we screwed him up
he can only pitch the 8th…and NOTHING ELSE. not the 7th or the 17th, just teh 8th.

"WHO WOULD LEAD?! THE CLOWN?!"
by I'mGivingYouARaise on Jun 10, 2010 12:59 AM EDT up reply actions
No, it’s not just you. Joba is the most predictable pitcher in the major leagues. If his stuff is anything short of nasty, he gets hit hard because every hitter knows what’s coming.
Fastballs on the outside corner until he gets to two strikes, sliders on the glove side in the dirt for the attempted K.
And lord help him if he has an ump who doesn't give him that outside corner.
"WHO WOULD LEAD?! THE CLOWN?!"
by I'mGivingYouARaise on Jun 10, 2010 1:03 AM EDT up reply actions
He’s so talented, it’s a shame that he can’t pitch more intelligently. At least for now.
And honestly, I think he did a much better job of mixing pitches when he was in the rotation.
I think so as well.
Believe me, I want him to succeed as a starter. But every time he gets that count up to 3-2, I just shake my head.
"WHO WOULD LEAD?! THE CLOWN?!"
by I'mGivingYouARaise on Jun 10, 2010 1:06 AM EDT up reply actions
I miss seeing Joba’s curveball as well. That pitch had a shitload of potential and he would consistently throw it in the strike zone. And now it’s just like a token showing every now and again with him in the pen.
Yeah I remember his curve could be wicked at times.
Perhaps he should try that instead of those predictable sliders.
"WHO WOULD LEAD?! THE CLOWN?!"

That would be a good post. Go through his games this season and assign the likelihood of each pitch in what count, or what # pitch in the sequence.

I think a big part of the Yankees pursuit of Crawford will be on how GGBG finishes this year. If they see him make strides at the plate and continue his excellent defense and base stealing, they will be less inclined to overpay for Crawford.

I'm not of the opinion we have to have an All Star at every position.
I love what Gardner has done out there and I would hate to see him get screwed over just because he doesn’t have the power or the name.
by WhatwouldJeterdo on Jun 10, 2010 12:56 AM EDT up reply actions
If he hits .260 or less, Werth or Crawford will be on the way
by YankeesJets on Jun 10, 2010 12:56 AM EDT up reply actions
GGBGs batting average is irrelevant…his OBP is much more important, and so far this year he has done a pretty solid job of drawing walks. If his OBP is in the .370 range, he’s very very valuable and should stay in LF and in the 9 hole.
by Lord Duggan on Jun 10, 2010 12:57 AM EDT up reply actions
Im fine with Gardner but if he doesnt hit or get on base
You know the others will be in play
by YankeesJets on Jun 10, 2010 12:58 AM EDT up reply actions
Definitely, I’m not disagreeing with you. And while we’re on the subject, Gardner massively (like 70% of the way to AJax) was outperforming his peripherals at the beginning of the year…..so hopefully we don’t see him fall off a cliff in the coming months, especially with this thumb injury.
I would rather the Yankees not be forced into the necessity of overbidding for high level free agents, but if GGBG isn’t going to hit, he’s gotta be replaced (I’m a much bigger Werth fan, but either way).
Werth's done very well for The Porkins Problem this year

I can't think of worse things than sleeping when it's hot.
December of my freshman year of college was abnormally warm and they had already turned on the heat in the dorm which we couldn’t control. Miserable.

Wow
No AC or heat in our dorms here. But I would get hot and my roommate wouldn’t let me open the freaking window.

she was such a bitch, though.
she picks the good bed by the window, and then is freezing cold the whole year and won’t let me ever open it. But won’t switch places in the room with me, either.

It was always hot in the rooms at my college.
I’d need the AC in winter the rooms were so hot.

If you don’t sing or play an instrument, and most rap does neither from what I’ve heard, I can’t see a logical way it’s music.

What?
You mean chording with your off hand? Honestly, I prefer learning some songs first. There’s some very good instructional videos for very easy songs to play. I learn the songs because it gives me something to break up the monotony of chords.

Well, they wanted me to just learn to play right handed.
But I think I’d be better at it if I played with my left hand, which is my dominant hand. However, the guy who was teaching me said he “won’t be able to help me” if I switch it, so it’s a problem.
by WhatwouldJeterdo on Jun 10, 2010 2:57 AM EDT up reply actions
Teach yourself.
That’s how most guitarists do it anyway. The only difference from left to right is the strings are switched. As a left hander you’d form chords with your right hand. It seems like it’d be easier to chord left handed for you, but that’s now how it’s done.

If you can play 3 very basic
beginner chords. A, G, and I believe C then you can easily learn it.

Sad.
I moved out of my old apartment into a new one for next year but it’s been a huge mess. I’ve had stuff going on at home to attend to, so I haven’t had time to unpack at all. It’s not fun to live and not know where half your stuff is.

School can be a pain, but I know it’s never going to get better than it is right now as far as having fun and still being somewhat of a kid. Sometimes I think I have adultphobia or something.

Well I had to 'grow up' fairly young.
So I can be real mature, but I can also want to be a carefree teenager which I shouldn’t be.

If you didn’t get to have that, I think it’s ok to be “carefree teenager” every once in a while. I think there can be a fine balance between the two. I’d like to think that’s how I am.

For me the ‘carefree teenager’ stage had to end pretty quick. I didn’t have the luxury of just having fun in high school like my friends that went out and partied.

I still like having a channel on my tv that shows some videos. I was in my glory when the played the MJ stuff when he died. It brought me back to when I was a kid. Youtube..not so much.
But that's what I find sad about it.
It took MJ dying for them to actually show music videos again. I remember those great days watching late night MTV or hell, The Box, and watching music videos, but those days are gone. Now, I can just search YouTube and find pretty much any music video I want in an instant.

One of my friends on facebook just updated her status saying
“really Red Sox…what were you thinking?”
and this guy commented saying he hated the Red Sox. She asked why and he said, “Bandwagon fans and their team is obnoxious.”
Like I always say...
The one and ONLY one good thing to come out of Red Sox WS victories is that now their fanbase knows what it’s like to have frontrunner douchebag fans!

Haha
She claims to be a fan since elementary school, but I find it highly doubtful.

That's what the guy said!
She said “Umm… I don’t know. Elementary school? Whenever that was.”

Not that I can recall.
I’ve never seen her say anything about baseball before, actually.

Ugh I hate frontrunners or peeps on the bandwagon
Like if there is somebody my age that has been a Yankee fan since 96, thats a bandwagoner
Absolutely.
Like I said, now the Red Sox fans can actually see what fans like us have to deal with.

Which a lot of real Red Sox fans hate.
I’ve talked to some who almost wish they didn’t win, simply because of what their fanbase has become.
