Game 34: Put Up or Shut Up
New York Yankees at Detroit Tigers, May 13, 2010 1:05 PM EDT
The Yankees are trying to avoid losing only their second series of the year, and they have their ace on the mound.
There's a lot of talk about how much the injury bug has sapped the strength from the Yankee roster: Park, Aceves, Johnson, Posada, now Swisher is down, too.
But these are the adversities that good teams overcome. The '09 Yankees went a month without their best slugger, lost and eventually released a two time 19 game winner, and watched their fifth starter struggle and fail.
Verlander's been as good as ever, striking out a batter per inning, and holding down baserunners.
A win today earns a series split. That's what the Yanks have to get.

Well considering hes in a slump and has been doing it a lot lately
Its not really the best thing to do
he's been slumping cuz he's getting thrown strikes, getting behind in the count
and not being able to hit his pitch.
Jeter hits better off the first pitch. Its actually the right thing to do for Jeet.

that was quick...
…i guess with the bad weather everyone is trying to do thair part to make this a Joe West special…
Though it would be amusing...
If at the end of the game, Michael Kay referred to under 3 hour games as “West approved” instead of “manageable”
Why? He was dumb enough to open his yap and complain about how long games take when he himself is partially in control of that...
…not to mention the fact that he bad-mouthed our Yankees…

Sterling mentioned a rumor about Papi getting released?
I’m not so sure the sux would do that….but if things got bad enough? Maybe.
I think this is more panic than actual thinking...
would they just release someone who is beloved by their fans? I do think he’ll be riding the pine a bit more than before and perhaps be sent down at some point if his offense doesn’t improve…

Cervelli needs to catch every game
Posada to DH. I blame the start of this on Posada he is a great hitter Cervelli is a better game caller and he is hitting like .700 with runners in scoring position. that would solve all these problems.
